Truck Bed Extenders

No matter how long the truck bed sooner or later you’ll need to haul cargo that’s longer, even if you have an 8 ft. bed. Not having enough bed room is a problem that’s especially prevalent on today’s trucks, where many full-size 4-door models have beds that aren’t even 6 ft. in length. Just leaving the tailgate down isn’t an option because you still may not have enough space to support the load, and you run the risk of cargo falling out if not secured properly. The solution to the lengthy cargo/short bed dilemma is a truck bed extender.

We offer several styles of truck bed extenders, each tailor made to solve particular hauling problems. If your cargo is only somewhat longer than the bed, say if you need to transport dirt bikes or an ATV and they won’t fit with the tailgate up, we have bed mount extenders. These extenders are perfect for getting more enclosed space on those full-size trucks with short beds as well as compact pickups. But if you’re hauling building materials, ladders and the like that are much longer than the bed, we have hitch mount extenders to safely and properly support the load.

The AMP Research® BedXtender mounts to the bed sides, where it pivots and flips out onto the open tailgate to corral lengthy cargo that won’t fit in the bed with the tailgate closed. We offer three models to choose from: The Max model, with its U-shape design, has the most cargo capacity; the Sport has a V-shape design that provides extra clearance for tonneau cover rails; while the Moto has a slant-back design that is beneficial for carrying motorcycles and dirt bikes. When you don’t require the additional capacity, all three flip back into the bed for storage, and with the tailgate closed each one forms an enclosure for keeping smaller cargo safe and organized. And if need be, the BedXtender can be easily popped out of the pivot mounts and completely removed from the bed.

Trying to carry long and heavy cargo that sticks out way past an open tailgate unsupported can not only be dangerous, all that weight concentrated on your tailgate can damage it. For really long cargo like lumber, pipes, and ladders, you need one of our hitch mount bed extenders, to provide safe and proper support during transport. Our hitch mount bed extenders fit any standard 2” receiver hitch. The Truck Covers USA® Tail-Mate extends the bed length by more than 30” and can support up to 1,000 lbs. The support beam is 51” wide with risers at each end to keep cargo from slipping off, making it ideal for transporting 4”x8” building materials, plus it has built-in tie-down loops to secure your cargo.

The Lund® Hitchrack has a 750 lbs. distributed load capacity and adjusts from 38” to 68” to accommodate long cargo, and from 27” to 49” for varying cargo widths. The height is also adjustable, enabling the Hitchrack to be used in conjunction with a roof rack or contractor’s rack for exceptionally lengthy cargo. The Spec-D® Truck Bed Extension Rack is also height and width adjustable to accommodate cargo of various sizes. Both products also include red reflective tape strategically placed on the rack beams for added safety when transporting cargo at night.
