A pickup truck bed is made for hauling cargo. But just as you wouldn’t pack items loosely in a cardboard box for shipping and expect them to get safely to the recipient, you can’t just load your gear in the bed, shut the tailgate, and assume it will be intact when you arrive at your destination. Cargo must be secured in the bed to prevent damage and ensure it doesn’t get lost during the journey, and we have the cargo nets and covers to do the job.

Tie-down straps are the go-to means of securing gear for many truck owners, and they’re ideal for heavy stuff like dirt bikes and ATVs because the strap tension can be set to prevent shifting and there are plenty of attachment points on the cargo for the hooks. But if you’ve got a lot of cargo to haul at one time then trying to secure it with individual tie-downs can be impractical, and many items aren’t conducive to tie-down strap attachment, or they can be damaged by pressure when tie-down straps are tensioned.

Cargo nets are the answer when you’ve got a number of items to secure, especially if they are different shapes and sizes, or where it would be too difficult or impossible to secure each item individually. Cargo nets come in a range of dimensions, so you can get a net that will cover your entire bed and smaller nets for confining cargo to a portion of the bed. Cargo nets are commonly constructed from lengths of heavy-duty shock cord that are connected together to form a grid or web, with multiple hooks for attachment to the bed floor and/or sides. The cord stretches to keep cargo in place without applying excessive pressure that could cause damage.

But if you want more control over your cargo we also offer adjustable nets that allow you to set the tension. These include corded cargo nets with adjustable hooks and nets with nylon webbing similar to tie-down straps. The grid pattern webbing of the latter is secured with hooks attached to straps that are tensioned with cambuckles. When not in use, cargo nets compress into small, easy to store bundles, so even if you have a regular cab truck, you can easily store one or two nets behind the seat, where they’re ready to go when needed. Some cargo nets are available in a range of colors, so you can add style to your hauling, and cargo nets are also useful for retaining gear on roof racks and trailers.

However, if you’re going to haul cargo that could be damaged by the elements, or want to conceal your payload, then you need a cargo cover. Think of a cargo cover as a tonneau cover that can be installed in just seconds when needed, and just as quickly removed when it’s not. It comes with clips and bungee corded hooks that allow attachment to a variety of truck beds and trailers with sides. The weather resistant cargo cover fits all 6 ½ ft. beds and most 8 ft. beds, and it comes with its own storage pouch so it can easily be stowed away when not in use. With a cargo cover you can protect your gear from fading and moisture damage, and obscure it from prying eyes.

    Highland Heavy-Duty Truck Net
The product does a good job of corralling stuff in the back of my truck, but the materials and method of construction are definite weak points (i.e., the perimeter strapping failed during my second use of the net). I would not call this a "heavy duty" truck net, but it does work better than all the others I have looked at. Heavier strapping, buckles, and more careful installation of grommets would be definite improvements.
