Ford's largest SUV, the Expedition, has been a staple on the road since 1997. Originally slated to replace the Bronco, the Ford Expedition was placed just under the Excursion in terms of size. Both a 4.6L V8 and a 5.4L V8 engines were initially offered and up to nine passengers could fit inside with a front bench seat and an optional third row. 1999 saw several changes to the Ford Expeditions accessories, including an upgraded grille, bumper, fascia, and the addition of fog lights. The engines were also improved with the power-enhancing parts, allowing for more HP (230 and 260, respectively) without negating fuel economy. Manufacturing of the Ford Expedition parts and the model itself began in Wayne, Michigan but has since moved to Louisville, Kentucky.

In 2005, Ford redesigned the vehicle, making it the biggest model in its segment under the brand name. The 5.4L V8 engine that was used in the beginning was revamped and became available with 24 valves. Smart Shift technology was also introduced. The Ford Expedition now presented a 4-speed transmission that would be far more responsive and precise. This proved to be an invaluable upgrade, luring in drivers who wanted the size of the now larger Expedition without having to endure the sticky handling other models in its class were known for. Beginning in 2007, the Ford Expedition underwent another transformation. Now being built on the T1 platform, independent rear suspension was brought into the SUV's design. A six-speed automatic transmission with Dual Overdrive gears was also presented. A year later, retractable running boards along with a rearview backup camera were added as the optional Ford Expedition parts.

FlexFuel capability, voice activated navigation, Bluetooth, and a plethora of entertainment are featured accessories for the 2009 Ford Expedition. The 5.4L V8 is improved thanks to the FuelFlex, showing off 310 HP and 365 feet of torque. Towing capacity in both the 4x2 and 4x4 were also increased to 9200 lbs. and 9000 lbs., respectively. While the Expedition parts have endured several changes in recent years, it has always been a solidly performing SUV that stands up tall to the Chevy Suburban, which was one of Ford's main priorities. Enjoy driving 2012 Ford Expedition With Ford's Snyc AppLink

Ford pays a great attention to new technologies, which are aimed to make the driving of its vehicles easier and more comfortable. Recently it was announced that the Ford's Sync AppLink software project will have new participants. The 2012 Expediton model will be offered to the customers with this latest technology. The full-size SUV will be joined by the 2012 Ford Fiesta, F-150 and F-150 SVT Raptor, Super Duty, E-Series, Mustang, Shelby GT500, Fusion, and its hybrid sibling. Also Ford is going to expand its engineering team of programmers and engineers for further development of the in-car technologies.

“We understand more and more drivers are using their devices and their apps while in the car,” said Doug VanDagens, director of Ford Connected Services Solutions. “Ford is a part of the solution, offering voice-activated options such as Ford SYNC with AppLink on a broader range of our products, which gives more customers a smarter way to access their apps while driving that keeps their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.”

The first car to introduce this award-winning application was the 2011 Fiesta. At First the AppLink was offered as a download from one of the company-owned Web sites. However, the last few months have shown the considerable growth in popularity. The software was developed to provide the SYNC users with the industry-leading intuitive voice control over music, mobile calls and other functions. All a driver has to do is to give voice commands to this easy-in-use in-car connectivity system.

2011 Expedition: Efficiency, Technology and Fresh Look

The engineering team at the Blue Oval made its best for the new Expedition lineup. The 2011 Ford Expedition is packed full with sophistication, performance, and safety improvements. The devotees of this Ford model can currently choose between eight trim levels. The long-running Eddie Bauer edition was kicked out of the lineup, while a new entry-level Expedition XL model joined the family.

The SUV is offered with a 5.4-liter V8 power unit mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The flex-fuel capable engine delivers 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque. The Expedition features best-in-class trailer tow rating of up to 9,200 pounds. Depending on the trim level, the 2011 model comes with either 17” or 18” aluminum wheels. Premium painted 20” wheels are available for the designated models as well. Chaparral perforated leather was used for front seats that also feature three levels of cooled and heated settings. PowerFold® third-row seats can be installed optionally. This system allows increasing of the cargo space up to 130.8 cubic feet. The vehicle's safety package includes six airbags, advance traction control, coupled with Trailer Sway Control system, and LATCH system, designed for children safety.

With a number of updates in both performance and design, the new Expedition is a strong player in its segment. However, it is said that Ford plans to refresh the model, or even produce an all-new Expedition. The details have not been unveiled yet, but the refreshed model is rumored to be introduced at the end of 2011 as a 2012 model.
