The Dodge Intrepid is a full-size sedan that first rolled off the line for the 1993 model year. The Intrepid was constructed off of Chrysler's LH platform along with the Concorde and Vision. It made its first appearance at the 1992 North American International Auto Show before hitting showrooms. When the Dodge Intrepid was initially offered, it was equipped with a 3.3L V6 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. As for the car's dimensions, the Intrepid measured in with a wheelbase of 113 inches, a width of 74.4 inches, a height of 56.3 inches, and an overall length of 201.7 inches (in 1995 the length was increased to 201.8). The 3.3L V6 was not the only engine offered with the original Dodge Intrepid, as a more powerful 3.5L V6 (214 horsepower) could also be had as an option.

Two trim levels were offered for the first generation of the model: base and ES. Standard parts for the Dodge Intrepid were front airbags and air conditioning. The ES showed off more with four-wheel disc brakes, a stiffer sport-suspension, 16" wheels, all included into the list of standard Dodge Intrepid accessories. Optional for both the base and ES were antilock brakes and traction control. 1994 brought on several changes to the Dodge Inrepid parts, including variable-assist power steering and standard touring-suspension while in 1995, the ES received standard antilock brakes. A year later, Autostick was introduced into the model, which was a manual shift option installed into the automatic transmission. The second generation of the Dodge Intrepid was released for the 1998 model year. The 3.3L and 3.5L V6 engines from the first generation were replaced with all-aluminum configurations such as a 2.7L DOHC (200 hp) and a beefier SOHC 3.2L V6 (225 hp), which was used for the ES. Engines were mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Dodge introduced the R/T trim level in 2000 and equipped it with a 3.5L V6 good for 242 horsepower.

2002 welcomed in another set of changes, as the R/T's engine was given a boost up to 244 horsepower, although the trim would be dropped the next year in favor of the SXT. In 2003, the Intrepid SXT was given a 3.5L High Output V6 which produced up to 250 horsepower. There were not many other changes made to the Dodge Inrepid parts and accessories during its remaining time in production and by 2004, Dodge discontinued the Intrepid from the lineup. While it was in service, the Intrepid was a successful full-size, four-door sedan and received praise from around the industry. In 1999, the Dodge Intrepid was named to Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best List and again in 2001. It has also been recognized as a Consumer Guide Best Buy (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004) as well as a Best Bet by The Car Book (2002, 2003).
