There’s an old saying: If you wait long enough, it will come back in style. Side Vents and Port Holes are classic styling features that were prominent on Buicks of the 1950s, but then disappeared from the automotive landscape. They reappeared on some Buick models a decade ago and side vents became standard features on the Cadillac Escalade and Land Rover. Today it seems half the new vehicles on the road have some kind of vents or holes in the fenders.

No doubt about it, side vents and port holes are hot again. But if your car or truck didn’t come with them, don’t despair. We have a huge selection of side vents and port holes, including functional ones and those that just look the part; side vents that stick on and ones that require cutting the fender. Our port holes come in every shape imaginable including round, square, and rectangular. We even have side vents that light up, and look great in the dark.

Side vents and port holes started out as functional features on older cars to exhaust excess heat from under the hood. They evolved, particularly port holes, to become mainly styling elements. The first ones installed on 1949 Buicks were supposedly inspired by the exhaust ports on WW II fighter planes. Even the number of port holes was used to indicate a model hierarchy, with 4 port holes on more expensive, high line models with big engines and 3 port holes on lesser models. On recent models, Buick has used the number of port holes to indicate the number of cylinders under the hood.

Today, many factory installed side vents are again functional, especially on high performance cars. But whether they’re real or fake is immaterial, the most important thing about side vents and port holes is they improve the appearance of virtually any car or truck. For years, car stylists used such features to add visual appeal and break up a monotonous expanse of paint, to blend in with the styling but still catch the eye. Unfortunately, too many late model cars were produced without these points of interest, rendering their styling bland and forgettable.

If you’d like to liven up the styling on your ride, browse our selection of side vents and port holes. They’re made from the finest materials, including durable, automotive grade ABS plastic, billet aluminum and stainless steel, with triple chrome plating for an unmatched gleam. Most of our side vents and port holes are easily attached with 3M™ double-sided tape. This adhesive is super strong and so effective it’s used by the automobile manufacturers to attach trim at the factory. Installation is not only simpler; there are no unsightly fasteners to deal with.

This product looks very good on my Chevy Malibu. It gives that nice touch of chrome.
