Features:

  • Enhances aerodynamics with contours that deflect additional wind off to the sides
  • Superior injection molded urethane construction is durable and resistant to cracks
  • Paintable in any color of your choice
  • Specifically contoured and shaped for your make and model vehicle
  • 3dCarbon provides a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty

When body kit is installed on a vehicle, its presence often speaks louder than words that a more powerful engine, bigger brakes, or more competent suspension pieces are lurking under the skin. You appreciate this, and understand pieces add style, reduce drag and underbody lift. You also understand that any poor-fitting aero pieces are troublesome and end up adding nothing to the looks of your vehicle. In order to help you take the risk out of choosing quality pieces, CARiD offers body kits that are made of top quality urethane. Which means they're shaped right, fit tight, and look as good as original equipment.

3dCarbon Award

Since the company's earliest days, 3dCarbon has pushed the envelope of automotive artistry using the benefits of urethane to create aerodynamic add-on parts with the highest levels of refinement, quality control, and durability the industry has to offer. The company's unwavering belief in the superiority of urethane means when you install 3DCarbon products we sell, you'll find everything fits right, installs easily, and looks as good as original equipment on your vehicle. Unlike ABS plastic that thins irregularly due to its plastic outer sheet stretching during the curing process, urethane parts are made by injecting plastic into a 2-piece mold. This allows consistent strength and thickness to be maintained over the most intricate bends, flares and edges of parts. Urethane can take a harder hit and return to its original shape without cracking or breaking like ABS plastic and fiberglass do, and its higher flexibility creates far less damaging stress to any paint applied. When you want spoilers, wings, and body kits that add flair while maintaining the elegance of your vehicle's factory look, 3DCarbon has you covered.

Originally founded as "Wings West" in 1992 in Southern California, the founders of 3dCarbon® got their start in the automotive accessory business with a line of trunk mounted wings and air dam kits for Honda Civics, Acura Integras, and Mitsubishi Eclipses that were gaining popularity in the import tuning market that was blossoming on the west coast during that time. Quickly gaining a reputation for durability and quality control, the company soon had repeat customers that were happy to spread positive word of mouth. The Wings West product line expanded throughout the 1990s until the company was purchased by a larger automotive supplier. Refining and developing their expertise working with urethane polymers, the two founding members branched out on their own again to create 3dCarbon in 2004. Since then, 3dCarbon has become known as a premiere producer of some of the best-fitting accessories on the market - so much so that their products are sold by new vehicle dealerships as accessories. 3dCarbon has won awards from General Motors and Ford honoring product designs, new products, and company practices. In 2011, 3dCarbon has partnered with Air Design to expand their range of quality automotive accessories.

A Good Kit With Some Quality Issues
First, CARiD has some fantastic customer service. I had a couple of questions when the manufacturer had a slight delay in production and they were immediate with their responses and inquiries to them. Big thanks to them. Now the product: This 3D carbon kit is the exact same form factor as the 5 Axis (Five:AD) kit as they took over manufacturing rights. I had actually put on a 5 Axis kit in the past on another FRS so a lot of this was very familiar to me. However there are some differences that, while some are subtle, one should be aware of. Packaging: The kit comes very well packed and triple wrapped. No issues at all! Paint: Here you can see where it appears release agent was still left on as it was sprayed: http://i.imgur.com/YIf6SJo.jpg . Here you can see trash in the paint: http://i.imgur.com/ca6YzlV.jpg . Here you can see where the paint simply wasn't there: http://i.imgur.com/L6bIR3T.jpg . Here, some of the double tape was stuck on the outside of the part. Luckily it didn't leave a mark. http://i.imgur.com/UioCTSi.jpg . Sticky Tape: They place the double sticky tape on the part before it leaves the factory in at least two places it shows after installation: http://i.imgur.com/S79rUN5.jpg . Now this might be a nitpick, but some of the tape which used to be die cut are now just strips laid together. May seem small but these things are originally engineered for maximum durability, so cut corners like this might make a difference down the road: http://i.imgur.com/tx2soFR.jpg . Some other interesting differences the tape on the front and rear were high endurance black double tape and the side skirts were less enduring gray. I had thought they were all black in the past. Overall, you will need to google and download Five Axis' old instructions. The ones supplied look like 4th generation xerox copies. Some of the darker pics are very difficult to follow and you will especially want better pics when they show examples of alignment: http://i.imgur.com/GdNZEse.jpg . All on: http://i.imgur.com/oU7XKrF.jpg .Overall, the kit still looks good, and I've always liked it for its subtlety and the way it follows the natural lines of the car. Its definitely the closest thing we have to the original concept car! Just be aware that you might have to contend with some of the quality issues if you get a painted version which you will want to address. Five axis sold these for considerably more, so that might explain some of the issues. Otherwise, installation took a day for me and as long as you follow the magic rule of "measure twice cut once" you should do well.

Great Company
I bought this kit because my wife got into a tiny fender bender. The O.E.M. parts were going to cost the same as the full body kit. So, it was time to give the Ford Expedition a fresh face lift. The kit is perfect and it makes the truck look lower and more visually appealing. I bought the kit already painted which was a great overall value. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to get a body kit 3D Carbon kits a top notch and come with a warranty unlike a lot of cheap flimsy kits.

Hot Lava 4-piece 3d Carbon Body Kit
Installation was simple. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Included hardware and installation accessories were easily identified. You will have to purchase the mentioned 'wax and grease remover' separately as it is not provided. A few extra clips are included. The parts fit like a glove. The bumper lip was particularly snug. The kit lowers the sides and front bumper of the vehicle about 1". The only con I had was the I ordered a painted kit in Hot Lava H8R and it was about 2-3 shades different from the factory. Not sure why it's slightly different but I hope it matches better over time as it spend time in the sun. Could it be a factor of time, waxing, paint protection, etc. Hot Lava seems difficult to match anyways, my touch up paint from another well known company is slightly off as well.
