Although race cars may have the best possible equipment to avoid breakdown and crashing on the track, accidents are part of the game. If a car is not drivable, it needs to be removed from the scene in no time. The priorities of emergency crews are ensuring the driver’s safety and towing an inoperable car out of the way as quickly as possible, so trying not to make further damage to your ride when hooking up is a secondary concern. A dedicated racing tow hook takes the guesswork out of finding a suitable attachment spot, saving both your vehicle and precious time when clearing the track.
Without a defined location for cable attachment, trackside safety personnel can wrap the strap around tie rods or other crucial parts that could easily get damaged when pulling, so you can end up with a much more expensive repair bill. A tow hook should be instantly visible, so these components are typically painted in bright colors and may have TOW script on their surface. For better visibility, there may be a bright arrow-shaped sticker on the bumper. It goes without saying that tow rings and straps must be strong enough to handle the weight of your vehicle.
Tow hooks or straps are the required or at least recommended pieces of equipment in many racing series. Some of the import high-performance and race cars already have them from the factory. Technically, stock tie downs are decent but you may still want to upgrade to more visible, better-looking tow hooks. These racing-inspired accessories are often added to street cars that hardly ever go to track days, so what they do is create a race-ready visual appeal. The original tie downs could also be incompatible with aftermarket body kits. Whether you want to upgrade the existing hold downs or add this feature to the car that did not come standard with it, we have a wide range of options in our store.

These components have an exposed location, which means they are under attack of weather elements and debris. It’s not only track use that these components may come in handy. They give a tow truck operator a convenient spot to hook onto and pull you out if you are stuck in the snow or in an off-road environment, while also providing a provision to attach tie down straps when transporting your ride on a trailer.
