SCION FR-S ACCESSORIES & PARTS

    About Scion FR-S

A sport compact car, named Scion FR-S was built teamwise by such Japanese auto makers, as Toyota and Subaru. The car was first introduced to the world at 2009 Tokyo Motor Show in October. Carrying a name "Toyota FT-86" (short for "Future Toyota"), it was presented as a concept car. The Toyota FT-86 G Sports, its high-performance version was unveiled later, at the January 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. Production version of Scion FR-S was launched at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. Featuring a 2-door coupe body style, the FR-S has 2+2 seats. The name of the model itself means Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport. As the first rear-wheel-drive car since Toyota Supra was discontinued, the FR-S is actually an addition to company's youth-oriented brand.

Just like its sisters, the FR-S is powered by Subaru-sourced naturally aspirated 2.0 L flat-4 boxer gasoline engine, which produces 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque at 6600 rpm. The offered transmissions are: a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. The direct-injection is quite unique as it makes for sensational 53/47 weight distribution and a center of gravity being even lower than Porsche Cayman's. If compared to Mazda MX-5, the sports car is 8 inches longer and two inches wider, yet featuring 33 more hp though weighting 200 lbs more. As for design, the FR-S took some design cues from the 2000 GT. As for the interior, its notable features are the seats. They are excellently bolstered both on the sides and at the shoulders. The model's seats are coated with a grippy material to keep the driver and the passengers in place.

Back to the handling, the model boasts the unique steering, even though the wheelbase is rather short (101.3-inch). When it comes to safety features, this special car features curtain-side airbags, as well as front-side airbags, antiskid system, traction control, and ABS. Scion FR-S is likely to be fitted with navigation system. Incredibly functional interior has rear hatchback and fold flat second row seats, which allow for fitting a spare set of tires when heading to the track (as stated by Scion). As a special car with sporty character, the FR-S is missing a bit of agression, which can be gained with the help of a subtle aero kit and a spoiler.

A truly special auto, Scion FR-S is unique due to being the world’s only direct-injection flat-four rear-drive sports vehicle. What it offers is a lot of fun, regardless of your talent or ambition. Designed to be the track weapon of choice for leagues of driving enthusiasts, the FR-S is lightweight and has a small size resulting in tires wear and tear. Scion FR-S does what you tell it to, no more, no less. With Scion FR-S being a new model, it's not hard to tell it will become an icon, as it is a return to the roots of what makes a sports car a sports car. The sporty character, the sleek contours of car parts, and all of the power drivers want is what has separated this machine from others. CARiD strives to make sure that when it comes to Scion FR-S accessories and parts, it gets even better.

GReddy FR-S Racer Made the Formula Drift Race Car

The 2013 FR-S Drift Car has been made an official Formula Drift race car by Scion Racing at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The auto maker presented a race-spec version for Ken Gushi. The car was built in collaboration with GReddy, a long time racing partner of Toyota. Motivated by a front-mounted engine which makes 600 hp and over 500 lb-ft of torque, the drift car is estimated to be turbocharged. As stated by Scion, this should be enough to light up the rear wheels.

While the world is still short on the details concerning this car (they will be revealed at the Formula Drift season opener on April 6-7th), it is clear that the FR-S will use the KW suspension while drifting on Hankook tires for the 2012 season. There are other obvious details: the powerplant was built by Cosworth and the Rays wheels are fitted with GReddy’s brake calipers. New body kit (which consists of front winglets and a huge rear wing) is also among new exterior features. As for interior, it is stripped out. New interior features are: a pair of racing bucket seats up front, a racing steering wheel, and safety roll cage.
