GReddy FR-S Racer Made the Formula Drift Race Car

The 2013 FR-S Drift Car has been made an official Formula Drift race car by Scion Racing at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The auto maker presented a race-spec version for Ken Gushi. The car was built in collaboration with GReddy, a long time racing partner of Toyota. Motivated by a front-mounted engine which makes 600 hp and over 500 lb-ft of torque, the drift car is estimated to be turbocharged. As stated by Scion, this should be enough to light up the rear wheels.

While the world is still short on the details concerning this car (they will be revealed at the Formula Drift season opener on April 6-7th), it is clear that the FR-S will use the KW suspension while drifting on Hankook tires for the 2012 season. There are other obvious details: the powerplant was built by Cosworth and the Rays wheels are fitted with GReddy’s brake calipers. New body kit (which consists of front winglets and a huge rear wing) is also among new exterior features. As for interior, it is stripped out. New interior features are: a pair of racing bucket seats up front, a racing steering wheel, and safety roll cage.
