Ford has always been recognized for their line of trucks and the F-250 is one monster that has seen its share of acclaim. Originally appearing as the F-2 in 1953, the Ford F-250 has been a fixture on the truck scene for over 50 years, engaging drivers with its burly image and workmanlike capability. The F-250 started out as a simple step up in overall weight from the F-150, but as the years progress Ford made it a point to improve the truck's parts in order to accommodate a larger demographic of drivers. Throughout the next few decades, the F-250 would serve as a reliable and steady step-up in size from the F-150. But come the latter part of the century, Ford would tag the model as "Super Duty," effectively changing the truck into a commercial force to be reckoned with.
Beginning in 1999, the Ford F-250 was no longer built on the same light-truck platform as the F-150. Heavier body-on-frame construction, reinforced brakes, new accessories, and stronger engine parts were what made the "new" Ford F-250 Super Duty differ from its previous run. Also, a rounded but brutish body style was employed, leading even further away from the F-150 mold. Multiple cab options were available in the first series including standard two doors, "SuperCab" for up to six passengers along with suicide rear doors, and the popular crew cab option that offered four doors and could cram in up to six passengers. Choice of engines varied. A standard 5.4L Modular V8 capable of 255 HP was first in line with a 6.8L V10 was next up as an upgrade. For added torque and horsepower, both a 7.3L Powerstroke Tubrodiesel as well as a 6.0L Powerstroke also became available.
The Ford F-250 parts underwent a redesign in 2005, which included a taller grille, a more potent alternator, an updated transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a new, more powerful alternator. The "Fail Safe Cooling System" was also introduced, allowing the engine to continue running by reducing the number of cylinders being used in case of loss of coolant. Currently, the Ford F-250 sports an updated 6.4L twin-turbo Powerstroke Diesel V8 and can pump out 350 HP. Original engine options such as the 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10 are both offered, as well. Not surprisingly, the Ford F-250 has maintained a strong following. The brand has consistently marketed the Ford F250 towards drivers who need a fuller, more industrial-capable truck rather than the traditional light-duty F-150. Sales have remained strong and now in its second generation as a Super-Duty vehicle, the F-250 isn't slowing down anytime soon.
Ford's proud F Series is one of the most recognized brand names in the world, and the F-250 shares in that distinction. An uncompromising favorite, the F-250 is that full-size pickup that does more than just carry its weight; it also carries with it a long-standing tradition of providing the strength and availability that its drivers find to be absolutely necessary. There is no other way to say it: the F-250 demands respect for all it has accomplished, and that is exactly why it is such an important vehicle even to this day.

Starting from the introduction of the Super Chief concept at the North American International Auto Show back in 2006, rumors are spread that the F-250 Super Chief is about to be unveiled...soon. This year is no exception. Once again, the F-250 Super Chief is claimed to be unveiled, this time as the 2013 model.
Not much has changed in the alleged specs of the Super Chief. The most noticeable thing is, probably, the V10 engine with the Tri-Flex fueling system that allows for a choice of three fuels, including E85 (ethanol), unleaded gasoline, and compressed hydrogen. The company claims that the Tri-Flex system will enable the F-250 to go nearly 500 mile between the fill-ups. The system is supposed to provide 400 lb.-ft. of torque. At the same time, the hydrogen alternative boasts 12% greater fuel efficiency and provides 99% less CO2 emissions compared to other fueling options.
The 2013 F-250 is rumored to offer not only a future-oriented performance but also an interesting design. The style of the new F-250 is to pay tribute to the American Super Chief trains of the 1930's. The mix of the current F-250 Super Duty with the powerful lines of a locomotive is supposed to give a nostalgic design, still some claim that the vehicle looks rather like a spaceship, not a truck.
There are actually neither written proves nor disclaimers that the Super Chief will debut in 2012. It seems that only time can tell if the concept will become a reality.
Restyled and repowered, the 2011 Ford Super Duty lineup is a real treat for heavy duty rig lovers. The alignment of forces in the torque war between GM, Ford and Dodge has changed as FoMoCo put the all-new, in-house built 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V-8 engine on the table.
Like each member of the 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty family, the F-250 model can be had with two engines: the aforesaid turbo-diesel V-8 making 400 horsepower and 800 lb-ft pf torque or the 6.2L gasoline-powered V-8, which produces 385-hp and 405 lib-ft of torque. The latter engine features E85 compatibility, while the new diesel delivers biodiesel compatibility up to B20. For 2011, F-Series Super Duty also features an all-new transmission. The heavy-duty TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission allows customers of either engine to get the increased power to the ground. With the upgraded firepower, the new Ford Super Duty boasts a whole pile of best-in-class achievements, including class-leading horsepower, torque and fuel economy. Besides, the 2011 Super Duty features best-in-class towing and payload capacity. The F-250 can tow up to 14,000 pounds, half a ton more than the current Dodge and GM HD models.
According to the first test-drive reports, the refurbished Ford F-250 is remarkably quiet. The editors at Car and Driver claim that the interior in the King Ranch F-250 is actually Lexus-quiet.
Probably the only thing that Ford left unchanged is pricing. Thus, the MSRP of a showroom-equipped 2011 F-250 XLT Crew Cab 4x4 diesel is priced the same as a 2010 model.
