Racing Air & Fuel Delivery

Increase air and fuel flow into an engine and it will make more horsepower. Of course, it’s not that simple. To increase airflow in a naturally aspirated racing engine, the airflow path from air intake to combustion chambers must be made larger and less restrictive, or air can be forced into the combustion chambers with a supercharger or turbocharger. A proportionate amount of fuel must be mixed with that air to get the desired air/fuel mixture, which is typically somewhat richer than stoichiometric on a racing engine, and this requires a larger carburetor or fuel injectors along with a high volume pump that can supply that fuel. Here on our digital shelves you’ll find everything you need to increase air and fuel flow and make race-winning horsepower.

Cooler, denser, air contains more oxygen for improved combustion, which is why race vehicles typically take in air from outside hot engine compartments via scoops or cowl induction intake systems. We offer a large selection of lightweight hoods with integral hood scoops, including carbon fiber hoods, that will also help you shed unwanted pounds from your car, custom hood scoops, and free-flowing air intake systems for most popular applications, as well as universal systems for custom fitment. The oxygen rich airflow is directed to a carburetor or fuel injection throttle body. Here you’ll find racing carburetors in sizes up to 1475 CFM for single carb and multiple carb intake manifolds, with the adjustability you need for tuning. We have metering blocks, power valves, jets, metering rods and hangers, accelerator pumps, cams, and nozzles, vacuum secondary springs, and more, available as individual parts and in complete tuning kits, for all popular performance carburetors. We also offer throttle bodies in a range of sizes, so you can increase airflow according to your engine’s needs and induction system.

A performance intake manifold will help you get the most from your engine no matter the size or how it’s configured. Whether you have an in-line 4 or V8, torque monster or screaming high revver, we have the manifold to suit your needs. Factory manifolds were designed to work with the OE level of tune, with runners that are often narrow to keep velocity high at low rpm. But if you’ve changed the cam and cylinder heads, and carburetor or fuel injectors, and want to make horsepower significantly higher up the rev band, that factory manifold’s not going to cut it. For in-line 4 cylinder engines we have large runner, high velocity intake manifolds for making high rpm horsepower. For V8 engines we have dual plane single 4-barrel intakes that make power from off idle to 5500 rpm, single plane manifolds for revving to 8500 rpm and beyond, and for the ultimate performance statement, single and dual quad tunnel rams.

If you’d rather tune with a laptop, we offer tunable throttle body and multi-port electronic fuel injection conversion kits, as well as self-tuning kits. We also have all the components you need to increase fuel flow on any EFI system. We offer direct fit and custom performance fuel injectors for gasoline, E85, and racing gas. Our direct fit injectors combine the increased flow you need with easy installation. They’re made to fit correctly into the manifold and fuel rail and allow easy fitment of the injector harness, the impedance is matched to the driver circuit, and they’re flow matched to ensure each cylinder gets even fuel distribution. Details like valve geometry and intake manifold design are also considered so you get optimal injector spray pattern and fuel atomization. Our selection of custom injectors includes both saturated and peak & hold injectors in a wide range of flow rates.

When upgrading to significantly larger fuel injectors you’ll need to provide a corresponding increase in fuel flow, and we have the fuel rails, fuel lines & fittings, and high flow fuel pumps to ensure your injectors get an ample supply of fuel. We offer adjustable fuel pressure regulators that are compatible with gasoline and alcohol, and available to complement a wide range of fuel pump flow rates and fuel system configurations. Just as fuel pressure and volume are critical for EFI engines, so is maintaining the fuel level in the float bowls on carbureted engines. Performance driving, racing, and the G-forces created by hard acceleration and cornering can disrupt flow. A high volume fuel pump can make sure fuel stays at optimum levels, but fuel pressure must be regulated to prevent flooding. We offer pressure regulators specially designed for carbureted applications.

We have electric fuel pumps with the GPH (Gallons Per Hour) flow rating to supply any engine and fuel system configuration. We offer external electric pumps preset at a low psi that are ready to use with carburetors, no regulator required. We have pumps for return-type and returnless EFI systems. Many of our in-tank pumps are direct replacements for the OE pump, and others require minimal modifications. We have external pumps with filters, and external pumps for use with surge tanks, which prevent fuel starvation if the fuel tank baffling is insufficient to keep fuel from sloshing away from the pickup. Most of our pumps are designed for use with gasoline, but some are ethanol compatible, and others can be used with alcohol and gasoline racing fuels. We also have mechanical pumps for carbureted applications that flow more GPH, with models for use with and without a pressure regulator.

Our fuel tank selection includes bolt-in fuel tanks for popular production car based racing platforms that come with modern baffling to ensure the electric fuel pump is always submerged in fuel for consistent flow. These tanks are available with pre-installed fuel pumps that can provide an ample supply of fuel for high-horsepower fuel injected and carbureted applications. Many forms of racing require fuel to be contained in fuel cells, which are designed to resist puncturing and spilling gas when impacted. We have fuel cells in a range of capacities, from tanks that only hold a few gallons for drag racing to large capacity tanks for endurance racing. Fuel cells are also available in different shapes so you can get the one that works best for the space in your vehicle. They’re available for in-tank and external fuel pumps, and for return-style and returnless fuel systems, and they can be configured for direct fill or fill through the body.

We offer both universal programmable Engine Management Systems (EMS) as well as plug & play systems that connect right to the factory harness and use all the OE sensors. These systems allow you to tune your engine via a PC or laptop with windows compatible software to get the most from your modifications and make power in the desired RPM range. While specific capability varies according to system, in general you can adjust Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) and ignition timing, control boost, nitrous oxide injection, and camshaft variable valve timing, and log and analyze data. In addition, we offer Wideband UEGO (Universal Exhaust Gas Oxygen) controllers that allow you to accurately monitor the AFR and make adjustments accordingly. These can provide output to an EMS or Data Logger, as well as to your choice of digital or analog gauges. We even have units that can be wirelessly connected to an iPhone or iPod, allowing you to monitor AFR and exhaust gas temperature in your vehicle without the need to mount a gauge.

Racing diesel engines have special fuel system needs, and we offer lift pumps with Gallons Per Hour (GPH) ratings to supply larger injectors, separation systems to ensure only pure fuel reaches your engine, injection pumps to supply the right fuel volume and pressure to the injectors, and high flow injectors that provide superior atomization. Our high volume lift pumps come in flow rates up to 260 GPH, and we have filter/water separators that remove dirt and water before entering the pump. Pressurized fuel from the pump then enters another filter where any remaining dirt is strained and air/vapor is separated from the fuel, so only pure fuel is sent to the injection pump/injectors. This ensures high flow rate for maximum power output, improved throttle response, and longer injection pump and injector life. We offer both rotary and common rail high-flow injection pumps that will provide the needed volume and pressure throughout the RPM range, to support high horsepower applications. Finally, the injectors we offer are honed to increase flow rate, and the nozzles are designed to improve the fuel spray pattern and atomization for more power and increased efficiency.

Old School-Carburetor with an Old AOD and Y pipe Headers
Worked perfect, installed with two Aeromotive gauges for both return and dead end regulators and a shut of valve coming off of the dead end regulator, get a good shut off value, the first one I got leaked, the second one leaked, then paid for a good one and it did not leak!
