Vehicles running on gasoline have an indirect fuel injection system where injectors deliver fuel to the intake manifold or intake port, so it can mix with the air before entering the chamber. In diesel engines, with a direct fuel injection system, the injectors are designed to spray fuel directly into the chamber.

But now, more and more cars have a multi-port injection system which consists of several fuel injectors, each spraying fuel to one specific cylinder. However, if you install an engine with a turbocharger or supercharger, your stock fuel injectors won’t improve your car’s performance. On the contrary, they will decrease it. And here’s the reason why. Your turbocharged/supercharged engine allows more air to enter the chamber, which means more fuel is required to balance the air-fuel mixture. But your stock fuel injectors won’t be able provide enough fuel to the engine.
