Racing Fuel Management

It’s a well-known fact that more fuel has to be burned in the engine in order for it to produce more horsepower. This is the main reason why racers have never stopped making both minor and substantial modifications to their fuel delivery system. However, providing the motor with more gasoline, methanol, etc. isn’t the only thing to consider when tuning it. Whatever changes are made, the air/fuel ratio (AFR) has to be adjusted in order to guarantee effective engine operation and thus increased power output.

If the mill receives more fuel, it requires more air to burn it all efficiently. However, if the motor doesn’t get it, it will run fuel rich without extra horsepower. If the mixture is lean, it results in further serious damage. To ensure safe engine operation and increase its power output, you have to adjust your AFR. This is when management systems like Programmable ECUs and others should be used. Today, aftermarket manufacturers provide an extensive array of equipment designed to help you adjust your fuel delivery system.

If a vehicle has an electronic injection system, its engine control unit can adjust the AFR to some minor changes. However, if you have upgraded your car with larger injectors or made some other serious mods, your engine control electronics must also be updated. Most management systems allow for connecting right to the original harness, so you need no adapters. Some of them give an opportunity to tune the mill via a PC with specially developed software. You are also offered a variety of Data Loggers which allow for logging each and every parameter of your mill.

Does Not Work On Diesels!
There is no mention anywhere that these will not work on a Diesel. These are for gasoline engines only.

Need an Expert to Install
Instructions call for installing in EFI fuse which my 2017 Jeep Renegade does not have. Instructions call for finding positive wire leading to fuel injectors, which also does not satisfy the problem since each injector has a separate wire leading to the engine control module. Went to the dealership and the fuse they suggested did not interrupt fuel injectors either. I wound up buying a unit from China which controls speed based upon GPS location, and is variable.
