Front and rear bumpers are intended to protect the body and important safety components like lights from damage caused by minor impact. Bumper design has evolved over the years, from simple metal bars to plastic covered reinforcement bars, and these changes have in turn directly affected their effectiveness. No matter how the bumpers on your car, truck or SUV are constructed we have the parts you need for repair including front bumpers, rear bumpers, covers, reinforcements, moldings, trim, inserts, brackets, and hardware, as well as related components like grilles, headlights and tail lights.
Although the car bumper was patented in 1905, they were not widely used until the 1920s. The first bumpers were utilitarian metal beams that projected outward on brackets, with chrome plating the only nod to style. But through the years bumpers gradually recessed into the body and became integrated into vehicle design, ultimately providing little protection. In response to escalating crash damage repair bills, in the 1970s the federal government stepped in and instituted 5-mph bumper regulations, which resulted in ungainly “Armco” style bumper projections and unfortunate styling.
Ironically, those ugly 5-mph bumpers are largely responsible for the sleek, sculpted contours of today’s cars. Designers had to come up with a way to meet regulations and still build attractive vehicles. The “soft” plastic covers that are prevalent today made it easy to hide the actual bumper mechanism and at the same time create panels that blend in with the sheet metal, lights, and grille for an overall pleasing design. This transition, coupled with the need to make cars lighter and more fuel efficient also spelled the end for chrome bumpers, at least on cars. Today chrome metal bumpers are generally limited to trucks. But it doesn’t matter whether you have a late model or classic car or truck, with plastic colored or chrome plated steel bumpers, we have the replacement parts.

Painted bumper covers are made of various types of thermoplastics, which provide flexibility that in theory enables the cover to spring back from a minor impact. In reality however, even slight contact can leave unsightly cracks and abrasions. This damage can sometimes be repaired, but to properly restore the vehicle’s appearance, replacement of the cover is the best course of action. Chromed steel bumpers bear the scars of every stone, road debris, bumper, and shopping cart that ever impacted them. Once the chrome chips away the underlying metal is exposed to the elements that can quickly cause rust and peeling of the remaining chrome. Dents can be banged out and the bumper re-chromed, but this can be very expensive. Our replacement chrome bumpers are the cost effective solution.

Modern bumpers can be very complex assemblies. The underlying supporting structure can include absorbers and bumper reinforcement bars, and besides the bumper cover the exterior may include impact strips, moldings and trim, valance panels, inserts and covers, and bumper spoilers, or a combination thereof. Any of these components can be damaged in even a minor collision and they generally cannot be repaired. Because of their susceptibility to damage, searching for used parts is a fruitless endeavor, and choosing cheap parts may result in panels that look and fit poorly. Luckily you don’t have to spend a lot to get superior quality. No matter what style of bumper you have we can bring your car or truck back to its former glory.

If you’re restoring a classic or muscle car we can supply you with bumpers die-stamped from the highest quality steel and chrome plated using a show-quality plating process. And we have everything you need to install those bumpers including brackets and hardware, bumper bolts and bumper guards. If you’re repairing a late model crash damaged daily driver, we have the parts you need from suppliers that specialize in providing original equipment quality body parts at less than OE prices. You get the same quality parts that you’d get at the dealer without the dealer price. These parts will look and fit just like the parts your vehicle came with, so your car or truck looks like new. Plus we carry related parts that are also often damaged in a collision like header panels, reflectors and emblems.
