Suspension Bump Stops

Bump stops and suspension bumpers are not only the protectors of your suspension system, on many performance vehicles they’re also an integral part of suspension tuning. These small but important components prevent control arms from crashing into frames and keep shocks and springs from over-compressing and becoming damaged, but they can also serve as supplemental springs and dampers. Bump stops are standard equipment on vehicles from the factory, but your OE bump stops aren’t up to the rigors of performance use, and they may not be the right design to be effective when ride height is altered.

Bump stops are especially important on vehicles that have had their ride height changed, such as lifted trucks and lowered cars. When a vehicle is raised, longer bump stops are required to prevent over-compression and damage to springs and shocks. And when a car or truck is slammed, shorter bump stops may be needed to prevent bottoming out.
