PEUGEOT ACCESSORIES

Founded by the industrious French family bearing the same name, Peugeot is a leading manufacturer of European automobiles. The first Peugeot was completed in 1889, a three-wheeler powered by a steam engine. By 1907, Peugeot produced its first six-cylinder vehicle, the Salon. On and off throughout the early years, Peugeot was involved in racing and returned to the track in 1912, taking the French Grand Prix in the process. During World War I, Peugeot was relegated to producing military supplies and tools for the war effort, but once the war was over, Peugeot resumed automobile assembly with the main goal of fielding a highly-competitive race team. As the '20s drew to a close, the brand introduced the 201, which is considered to be Peugeot's first model designed for mass production.

Peugeot released the 202 in 1946 on the heels of World War II. The 203 came just a year later, complete with hydraulic brakes and a Monocoque body. It was also a huge seller for the brand up until 1960, when it was discontinued. Other related models such as the 403 and 404 were introduced as well, giving the automaker a solid reputation throughout the industry. The 504 was named the European Car of the Year for 1969, further elevating the brand's status. Peugeot purchased 30% of Citroen in 1974 before taking over completely a year later. Peugeot then moved on to take over Europe's Chrysler division in 1978. The 205 was introduced in 1983, providing Peugeot with a much-needed boost following the acquisitions of Citroen and Chrysler Europe.

The 405 was another hit for Peugeot and was subsequently named the 1988 European Car of the Year. Another one of Peugeot's all-stars, the 505, was discontinued in 1992 but remained in Argentina and China until 1995 and 1997, respectively. In 2001, Peugeot unveiled the 307, a compact family car that would wind up being named the 2002 European Car of the Year, becoming the third Peugeot model to claim the title. Other innovative vehicles followed suit, including 2004's 407, a full-size sedan with a sweeping aerodynamic body shape as well as the 5008, a compact crossover SUV. The 307's successor, the 308, premiered in 2007 boasting several of the original's characteristics but showcasing a wider body and upgraded safety features.
