Races aren’t won by the car that makes the most power, the car that wins is the one that can turn that power into the most traction. Traction for acceleration and cornering grip requires a chassis that doesn’t flex, and suspension that can be adjusted to maintain optimal weight distribution and tire contact. Here on our digital shelves you’ll find the racing chassis & suspension components you need to get race-winning handling and acceleration, whether you’re modifying a production vehicle for racing or constructing a purpose-built competition machine.
We can supply you with gas monotube shocks and struts with adjustable damping, many with external reservoirs for increased fluid capacity and heat dissipation. We have coilover kits that allow ride height adjustment and spring preload adjustment along with compression and rebound damping adjustment. Lowering ride height will lower the center of gravity, reducing weight transfer and keeping the vehicle weight more evenly distributed on the wheels and tires, resulting in less body roll for improved cornering, less dive for better braking, and less squat for enhanced acceleration. We have coil springs in a range of heights and spring rates, including progressive springs and dual rate springs.
Our performance sway bars will help keep your car level when turning, resulting in better weight distribution on the tires, and improved handling and traction. Many bars are adjustable so you can fine tune your suspension, and some adjustable end links feature durable, low friction spherical bearings for rigidity and minimal friction. You can further minimize friction and at the same time eliminate deflection that can cause imprecise steering and poor traction with our polyurethane suspension bushings. Many of the suspension components come with these bushings but they’re also available separately. The performance ball joints we offer produce less friction and operate more smoothly than their OE counterparts, without creating excessive clearance, and the preload on some performance ball joints is adjustable to set the level of friction.
Whether you’re building a suspension system or replacing OE components, you can eliminate flex with our performance control arms. We can offer you strong but lightweight control arms manufactured from thick DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) tubular steel, billet aluminum or stout tubular 4130 chrome moly. Most come with premium standard or low-friction ball joints and performance polyurethane or Delrin bushings installed. We have control arms specially designed for drag racing and road racing and some are built expressly for common mods like coilovers in place of coil springs. Our performance control arms have the heavy-duty construction to handle the g-forces and power, the configuration to prevent tire rubbing, and the alignment angles you need for optimal handling and high speed stability.
If your racer is based on a production car, especially one with unibody construction, we have the stiffeners you need to create a strong and rigid chassis. Here on our virtual shelves you’ll find strut tower braces that tie together the towers where struts or coilovers mount. In addition to 2-point attachment front braces we have triangular braces that also attach at the firewall, and rear strut braces. Connecting the subframes together is a tried and true way to eliminate chassis flex and improve traction and steering response. We offer subframe connectors, braces, stiffeners & reinforcements, crossmembers, and complete K-members.
You worked hard to make a lot of horsepower with your engine, don’t have it all end up wasted with tires that are hopping and spinning when you floor it. We have traction bars and ladder bars to stabilize the axle and differential under hard acceleration and transfer leverage and weight to the tires for traction. We also offer torque arm setups that provide a solid connection between the chassis and axle that prevents axle rotation without affecting suspension operation. A torque arm not only helps tire bite for improved acceleration, it can improve handling too. And if you want to do away with the limitations of leaf springs, we have complete 4-link kits that position the axle front-to-rear, keep the axle from rotating and maintain pinion angle for optimal traction, acceleration and component durability, and can be set up to laterally position the axle for increased stability during hard cornering, and for tighter wheel-to-fender clearances.
If you’re running a conventional steering box in your race car, you can upgrade to a quicker ration or variable ratio box for better steering feel and response, or go with the precise feel of rack & pinion steering with a conversion kit that includes a cradle assembly for mounting the rack. We also have separate rack & pinion units for custom installations, and a huge selection of steering columns, column mounts, shafts, and column U-joints. And if you want to make a significant handling, braking, and steering upgrade to a racer based on an older production vehicle, we have complete independent front suspension setups with tubular A-arms, coilovers, rack & pinion unit, sway bar, and drilled and slotted rotors with brake calipers, all on a crossmember that’s ready to mount.
