There are four major types of trailer hitches, regardless of whether they are installed at the factory or added on afterward. A hitch may simply have a bar sticking out past the bumper with a ball mounted to it. Or there may be a square receiver that takes a ball mount that slides into it. In all cases, there are different weight ratings.

Trailer lights always seem to be out, or intermittent, or making the turn signals blink too fast. It’s a non-stop case of whack-a-mole to keep your trailer lit up properly, here’s some advice on how to reduce your maintenance investment. "I purchased and installed this hitch on my 04 pathfinder, wiring and all. It saved me over $100 doing it myself instead of having it done professionally. It looks great on my truck and installed very easily. Took me about 2 hours to do everything. My only complaint was that it looked a little banged up out of the box and I had to spray a few spots with some black spray paint where it was dinged to avoid rusting."

" It takes a little to figure out path for wire but done in less than an hour. Great product for do it yourself people. I was quoted about 100 dollars for it to be done professionally. If you want to save money then great. If not, up to you."

" Great fit to the car. I have a 2010 Nissan Maxima and it fit perfect. I love the fact that it's hidden and does not pass the bumper. It takes a little work with the muffler removal, but it's well worth it."

"Took a little longer than expected to arrive, but my guess is that it was due to the heavy weight of the box. Item arrived undamaged, though I doubt it would have made a difference in this case. Installation was mostly straightforward except for one issue, a muffler bracket was slightly in the way preventing the holes from lining up perfectly. I had to use a grinder to notch the corner of the bracket to accommodate, but 10 minutes later after the notch and a blast from a can of rustoleum spray paint the first side was bolted in no problem. On my Rogue particularly one side of the existing frame holes were rusted and took quite a bit of cleaning out to be able to thread the provided bolts, but that was my car's issue and nothing to do with the product. All in all, installation on this is definitely above beginner as the need for breaker bar to loosen old rusted bolts and need to slightly modify the product with tools that the average Joe may not have puts this solidly in the "intermediate" category in my opinion. Otherwise the item is solid and well built, definitely can take the rated load, and once modified fit perfectly to the existing bolt holes in the frame. I'm completely satisfied with the product at the price paid."

"Product is exactly as shown on the website. Excellent construction and appearance. I choose the black step as it matched my black hitch. Installation is simple. You only need an adjustable wrench. Very functional for stepping up to reach bikes or cargo on my roof rack when towing my camper. Very pleased."
