About GMC Canyon Performance Air Intake Systems

Your Canyon can do a wide range of tasks with a minimum of fuss which means that it’s an important vehicle in your day to day life. You need it to be running at its best so you service it and maintain it but you’re wondering whether there is more you could be doing. Well, there is: performance upgrades! We have a wide range of them to suit your Canyon to give you the performance that suits you the best and a great starting point is the GMC Canyon air intake.

Of course, your engine uses a combination of fuel and air to run so aftermarket intakes can improve your vehicles performance by controlling the amount and temperature of the air reaching your engine. There are different types including cold air intakes which will send cooler air to your engine so that it burns better or short ram intakes which will remove the restrictions put in place by your standard intake so that your engine gets more air to burn. Each has its own strengths and because we have them all you can choose the one that will suit your driving style perfectly!

An intake manifold is an integrated assembly that sits atop the engine, consisting of a series of tubes which distribute fresh outside air to each and every cylinder. On V-shaped engine blocks, an intake manifold typically sits between the two cylinder banks while inline engines may feature a manifold to the side of the cylinder head. Intake manifolds serve as a...
Most aftermarket air filters are constructed from multiple layers of cotton gauze, which are sandwiched between wire mesh that is formed into pleats. The layers of oiled cotton fibers are able to trap dirt particles that are even smaller than the holes in the filter media. The airflow stays consistent between cleanings, for optimal combustion.
The easiest way to improve airflow to your engine is just by changing your stock air filter to an aftermarket performance air filter. There’s an aftermarket air intake system for every budget and every application. Even if you have a hot rod or custom car, or if your car’s just not listed in a catalog, you can still get a quality system. Everyone, regardless of...

2012 GMC Canyon

Installation was relatively easy in spite of the fact that there were no step by step instructions just a printed sheet showing the parts of the air filter box. The mounting bolt through the bottom of the box was about 1/4" too long and a bit difficult to start the threads in the awkward location it was in. I had to run the bolt through the fender nut without the box in place and cut a small 1" hole in my fender liner once i located it from under the truck, then run the bolt through from the inside of the fender and then position the air box over the bolt, remove the bolt from below and reach into the narrow opening and start the bolt with two fingers. Everything else was fairly easy once this was done. Performance wise, I noticed a little more responsiveness in the throttle, and the sound of the unrestricted airflow through the throttle body is awesome (sounds like the old small block Chevy's with a big 4 barrel) the small increase in power is most notable from about 2500 to 5000 rpm, and it looks much better under the hood than the goofy sound baffle on the stock air box.
