The exhaust manifold collects exhaust gas from the cylinder head exhaust ports and channels it to a single outlet, connected to an exhaust pipe. The exhaust continues flowing through pipes in the system, through the catalytic converter and muffler, and out the tailpipe. The manifold is secured to the cylinder head and exhaust pipe with bolts or studs and nuts, and these junctures are sealed with gaskets. Exhaust manifolds are generally durable, but if your vehicle needs repair, you can count on our replacements to look, fit, and function just like original equipment, but for much less cash.
Most exhaust manifolds are cast iron, however some are constructed from steel or stainless steel tubes welded together and to a flange that attaches to the cylinder head. Heat shields are mounted on some manifolds to protect other components from their extreme heat, and on some applications to prevent exposing the cabin floor to excessive heat, which could make driving very uncomfortable. On some vehicles the catalytic converter is integral with the manifold, and some manifolds have a port for the oxygen sensor, which signals the exhaust oxygen content to the engine control module.
Exhaust manifolds are generally one of the most reliable components in the exhaust system, but because they continually experience thermal stress, along with other factors, occasionally replacement becomes necessary. We can help with OE quality replacement components. We have exhaust manifolds, exhaust manifolds with integrated catalytic converters, manifold and exhaust pipe gaskets, studs/nuts, bolts, crossover pipes, and everything else exhaust manifold related. Many of our manifolds and manifolds with integrated converters come as complete kits with all gaskets, hardware, and shields (as required) included, so one part number gets you everything you need to complete the job.
The easiest way to get more power from your engine is to let it breathe better, increasing intake and exhaust flow. Factory exhaust systems are compromises, with noise reduction usually a priority over performance. Installing a performance exhaust system should be the first step to improve flow, but if you want to go further, mount a set of headers in place of your exhaust manifolds. Most stock exhaust manifolds are very restrictive; when designed more attention is often paid to engine compartment fit than exhaust flow. Headers reduce restriction and enable your engine to make more horsepower.
No matter what your performance goals are or what you drive we have the headers for the job, including EPA and CARB compliant street headers, block-hugging street rod headers, headers for use with turbochargers, headers designed for low-end torque, high rpm headers for every type of racing, and much more. We offer headers in stainless steel, steel that’s been coated to prevent corrosion, and even titanium. Stainless steel headers will not rust but they may turn blue near the head flange. Ceramic coatings are durable and can withstand high temperatures.
