Truck Bed & Tailgate Steps

As trucks have gotten taller and buyers have grown older, the effort required to get into the pickup bed has become more of an issue. So much so that recently manufacturers started equipping their new trucks with steps to make it easier to access the bed. But you don’t have to buy a new truck to get this convenient feature. We have truck bed steps that can be mounted at the bed sides and at the rear of the truck, including models that flip down and then retract out of the way when not needed. We also have tailgate steps and ladders that allow you to easily step right up into the bed.

Without truck bed steps, getting into a pickup bed means clambering onto the tailgate on your knees or carrying a stepstool or milk crate to use as a step. Even if you’re young and in good shape the former can get tiring if you have to do it repeatedly to load and unload cargo, and the latter choice takes up room in the bed and won’t provide safe and stable footing. Truck bed steps don’t waste valuable cargo space, and they provide a strong and stable platform so you can safely climb into the bed on your feet. Truck bed steps for the rear are mounted at the bumper corners to allow easy access to the bed with the tailgate down. But what if you have a bed full of gear and want to get to items at the front of the bed? The bed rails on most new trucks are so high it can be almost impossible to access anything in the front of the bed from the side, so we also offer bed steps that can be mounted at the bed sides. With side bed steps, you won’t have to wade through or unload cargo at the rear of the bed, find something to stand on, or risk damaging the finish on your truck, when you want to reach cargo that’s in the front of the bed. These steps are especially handy for accessing tools and supplies from a bed mounted tool box.

Some of our most popular models install under the bumper or bed sides where they can be pushed down with your boot when needed, and retracted out of the way when they’re not, for a clean look, increased ground clearance, and to prevent damage. We also have fixed steps that mount to the frame and flat mount steps that mount directly to the bumper. If you need heavy-duty steps for your work truck, we offer spring-loaded steps that extend outward with just the push of a boot, to give you access to the bed and contractor’s racks. These rugged steel steps can support up to 500 lbs., and they’re wide enough to stand on with 2 feet. All of our steps feature non-slip treaded surfaces for sure footing even with wet or muddy boots or shoes.

In addition to single steps that fold out or down from under the bed, we also offer steps and ladders that mount to your tailgate. These sturdy bed access aids install easily in just minutes on the inside surface of the tailgate with the included hardware. When you need to load or unload cargo, just open the tailgate and fold down the steps or ladder. You can literally step up into and step down from the bed. Some products feature a handle to further assist ingress and egress, and we even have models that span the width of the tailgate on a standard size pickup. No more stress on your knees from kneeling on the tailgate, or on your legs from hopping down from the bed to the ground. When not needed, your steps or ladder fold to a compact size that stores right on the tailgate.
