The Saab 9-7X was the first V8 in the Saab lineup. The 9-7X was based on the American truck platform, it was a solid, good-looking vehicle with safety innovations available in the following body modifications: sport sedan, convertible or sport wagon. The first model came off in 2005. The 9-7X was the first American-built Saab. It was the only SUV that was not available with rear-wheel drive. In comparison with its predecessor Saab 9-5, the 9-7X received a lot of improvements in the mechanics.
The Saab 9-7X was an all-wheel drive with a rear limited-slip differential, 18" wheels, side-curtain airbags and a lot of electronics installed. The 9-7X was available with a range of 4.2L-6.0L engines equipped with a 4-speed transmission. There were two models of the Saab 9-7X available: Linear featuring 4.2i 285hp and Arc featuring 5.3i 300hp (in 2006 this engine was displaced).
From 2006 and up to 2008 the packing list of 9-7X faced only minor improvements, until in 2008 the new model, 9-7X Aero, was released. It was powered with a 6.0L V8 390hp engine and equipped with an automatic transmission. Safety features standard on all previous editions were available in Aero edition (front, side-impact and side curtain bags). Stability control system, traction control, Bluetooth and anti-lock disc brakes were available as well.
