Vehicle & Parts Protection
In 1993 Mercury division released a new model named Mercury Villager, that was produced as the rebadged version of the Nissan Quest. The wheel base of this minivan was similar to the one of the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager. The vehicles were equipped with two types of engines 3.0L V6 and 3.3L V6, both paired with a 4-speed gear box. The Mercury Villager was available in several modifications: GS, LS, luxury Nautica Special, Sport, and Luxury Estate. The fuel economy was 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
The first-generation Mercury Villagers were produced in 1993 – 1998 with three trim levels available: GS, LS, and a luxury Nautica Special Edition. All Nautica models were colored in a two-toned, blue and white, paint scheme, the standard package upholstery was available only in the gray color. All vehicles were equipped with ABS and front side air-bags.
The second generation Villager parts were renewed inside and outside. New Villager received a bigger engine and new sliding doors. It was available in three versions: base, luxury Estate, and Sport. The new engine was a 3.0L 170hp V6 equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission, still the safety of the vehicle was lessened: ABS came optional and the side airbags were not included into the standard package. Now Villager had a soft suspension and that was why the ride was smooth and easy. It handled like a sedan and provided plenty of power for driving through heavy traffic. The second-generation Villagers were slightly bigger than the first models, so the fuel tank capacity was increased by 9 cubic feet.
