The Mercury Villager is a name that used to denote different vehicles, or rather, a peculiar wood-grained higher-trim version of different vehicles. There were, nevertheless, two stages when the Villager model existed in its own right. In 1962, a station wagon (based on the Mercury Comet) took the name for half a decade. Those Villagers were built on a 109.5-inch wheelbase and possessed a sufficiently powerful 169 cu.in. engine that provided 101 hp. The Mercury Villager of 1993-2002 was a 3-door minivan with FF-layout, a 3.0-liter (later 3.3-liter) V6, and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The models prior and subsequent to 1998 may be distinguished through the grilles (lightbar/waterfall respectively). Among the most praised things about the “recent” Villager are removable back seats and all-coil suspension, making the minivan quite comfortable.
