Vehicle & Parts Protection
The Lexus RX is a luxury crossover SUV that first rolled off the line in 1997 for the 1998 model year. It is well known throughout the industry thanks to the vehicle's status as the highest-selling luxury crossover in its class and also holds the distinction of being the only Lexus model to be produced outside of Japan, as the RX 350 is assembled in Canada. When it was initially introduced, the Lexus RX was made available as the RX 300 and outfitted with a 3.0L V6 engine good for approximately 220 horsepower and 222 pounds-per-foot of torque directed through a standard four-speed automatic transmission. The RX 300 was also offered in both front and all-wheel drive. Inside the model, leather upholstery, wood trim accents, and reclining rear seats were the main attractions. Its first discernible update came in 2001, when DVD navigation, a new wood/leather steering wheel, and a tow-hitch receiver were added. As for safety, 2001 is the year Vehicle Stability Control became a standard safety feature.
In January of 2003, the new RX was premiered at the North American International Auto Show. It was based off of the same platform as Toyota's Highlander, a successful SUV in its own right. When it arrived for the 2004 model year, the RX was now the RX 330 and equipped with a new 3.3L V6 engine which threw out 230 horsepower along with 242 pounds-per-foot of torque. The transmission was upgraded for the RX 330, as well as the engine's power was directed through a new five-speed automatic transmission. Overall, the model was loaded with more standard amenities than before and new items became available as options, such as a power moonroof, a DVD entertainment system, a premium Mark Levinson stereo, adaptive cruise control, and a backup camera. On the safety front, the RX 330 received Lexus's Pre-Collision System for the first time as an option.
The RX 350 took over in 2007. Under the hood was a new 3.5L V6 engine which got credit for 270 horsepower and 252 pounds-per-foot of torque. Once again, power was geared to a standard five-speed automatic transmission and the model was made available in both front and all-wheel drive. One-touch windows, dual-zone climate control, ten-way power seats, and a power liftgate were made standard RX parts. Additional options such as leather seats, a moonroof, navigation, a DVD entertainment system, and adaptive cruise control could also be had. The RX 350 parts received a minor update for the 2010 model year. This time, power was directed through a six-speed automatic transmission. However, most of the previous powertrain remained intact, although the engine did get a boost up to 275 horsepower. 18” alloy wheels, remote entry/start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power tilted-telescoping steering wheel were included as standard equipment while leather upholstery, heated/cooled seats, a backup camera, and other such niceties were made available either as options or part of separate packages.
This sleekly-styled SUV is always the center of attention and something tells us you like it that way! The Lexus RX demonstrates peppy performance, smooth handling, and a large amount of cargo space, elevating it above most of its competitors. Ever since the dawn of the crossover age, there has been a need for one model to carry the torch and the Lexus RX is as good of a candidate as any. That's why it deserves only the best accessories and parts.
