Manufactured between 1966 and 1976 at the Kelvin Way Factory, the Jensen Interceptor was all about quality, style, and class. It should be mentioned that this name had been used previously for the car produced from 1950 to 1957 and built at the Carters Green factory. The car we are going to talk about is the glamorous hand-made Jensen Interceptor designed as a stylish and powerful car to compete against the popular Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Only 6,408 Interceptors were produced, which makes it desirable for collectors. Built to provide maximum performance, this mid-1960s GT with a 0-60 time of 6-7 seconds quickly gained millions of followers all around the globe. Today this car remains an icon of style and power.
The Jensen Interceptor was equipped with a 383 cu in (6.3 L) Golden Commando V8 engine. For the 1971 model year, the car was available with two 440 cu in engines: one produced 305 hp SAE net and came with a 4-barrel carburetor, while the other generated 330 hp SAE net and featured three 2-barrel carburetors. The latter was installed in only 232 Jensen Interceptors. For the 1972 model year, it was no longer produced. The Interceptor offered buyers to choose between a 4-speed manual transmission and a 3-speed Torqueflite A727 automatic one, which was highly rated as well as effortless in its day. Since 1968, power steering had been included as standard. In addition to its high performance capabilities, this car features a very distinctive interior and exterior design. The original specifications of the Jensen Interceptor included an electric clock, electric windows, reversing lights, reclining front seats, and a number of other useful and stylish features.
Everyone who sits at the wheel of this car can’t help but be amazed by how Italian its interior is.
