Rolling off the line in September 2008, the Hummer H3T is a pickup version of Hummer H3 sports utility vehicle, manufactured and distributed by GM. It is built off of the GMT355 platform along with the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon. This platform was developed by GM for compact and light pickup trucks. While the H2 kept a lot of the same parts and characteristics as the H1 despite its differences in length and height, the H3T represents a further departure. Its wheelbase measures in at 134.2 inches and the overall length comes in at 210.3 inches – a drastic difference considering that the H2 measured in at 203.5 inches long and the H1 measured in at 184.5 inches. The H3T employs four-wheel drive and a five-speed manual transmission but is also offered with a Hydra-Matic four-speed transmission, as well. The H3T was assembled in Shreveport, Louisiana at one of GM’s factories. It holds the distinction of being the second Hummer model built by GM (after the H3 SUV), as the previous two were manufactured by American General.
Engine options for the H3T include a 3.7L inline five-cylinder capable of 242 horsepower connected to a standard five-speed transmission. The four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission was offered in the list of the optional Hummer H3T parts. Equipped with a 5.3L V8, the H3T Alpha has the ability to crank out about 300 HP and go 0-60 in 8.8 seconds. A very popular trait of the Hummer H3T is its ability to handle all types of terrain, due to front and rear locking differentials, especially stout transfer case and low crawl ratio of 68.9:1. Extra-low range transfer case is available only with standard transmission and I-5 engine only.
Hummer H3T is a mean off-road warrior, sharing parts and platform with Chevrolet Colorado, yet seriously outfitted for off-road adventures. It is outfitted with greater lift, HD transfer case both front and rear locking differential. Entirely new truck bed design with storage bins integrated into the truck bed walls. The factory setup of H3T already features complete set of accessories, including skid plates and recovery hooks. H3T definitely has everything it takes to conquer any landscape. As for the comfort and amenities on the inside, H3T is a successful competitor to any luxury trucks with various amenities and accessories, such as XM-Radio, Bluetooth, auto-dimming mirror and rear-view camera to name the few.
All of the dominant features of the original Hummer are on display in explosive truck package with the H3T. Neatly designed to mimic the big guy sans the intrusive size and the truck body shape, the H3T has been a favorite for an extremely eclectic mix of drivers. There is no questioning the fashion statement that the H3T inevitably makes. Its smallish presentation perhaps allows for even more style than its predecessors, which is why it has become such a favorite who love to make aftermarket additions. There is no disputing the fact that the H3T continues to make a deep impression wherever it goes.
