Being one of Holley brands, Hooker Headers is the winningest header manufacturer in the automotive drag racing history. The company has a commitment to providing quality exhaust solutions for both drag racers and daily drivers. In 1962 Gary Hooker, the founder of the company, designed a header for his new 409 Chevrolet. It quickly became popular among other race drivers in the area and led to the foundation of Hooker Headers in South Ontario, CA.
Hooker offers the most complete Super Competition and Competition headers, mufflers, and cat-back exhaust systems on the market. During the 1970s-80s, Hooker was manufacturing such products as skateboards, bicycles, wheels, skis, parts for motorcycles, and fiberglass bolt-ons for vans and trucks called 'California Glass.' This branching resulted in the launch of more 'non-race' exhaust and header applications for vans, trucks, and motorhomes.
The company is widely known for its racing heritage since its headers have been on more race winners than any other ones available on the market. In the 1960s and during the 1970s, during the golden era of drag racing, Hooker prevailed the race scene with almost all NHRA® Pro Stock racers winning with Hooker headers. The company's glass pack mufflers famous as the 'Hookermuffler' were also released at the beginning of the '70s. Despite its winning history, the company doesn’t rest on its laurels leading the way in technology and design with various Hooker exhaust products for late and early vehicles.
At the beginning of the '90s, the company offered a new finish for its headers, the metallic ceramic thermal barrier coating. It helps to dissipate heat and prolong the service life of the headers, being one of the most popular Hooker’s features today. In the '90s the company also developed the most innovative muffler on the market called the Aerochamber Muffler. Nowadays Hooker Headers makes its best to replenish its line with new horsepower products. The company presented a new coating process named Darksides black and offered engine swap headers for putting GM LS engines into earlier models.
