The Ford Transit Connect is currently one of the most popular and admired compact panel vans available on the market. Built to deliver not only impressive transporting capabilities and excellent handling, but also please the eye with an attractive appearance, the vehicle gained a wide popularity among those customers whose business was either carrying cargo or transporting people soon after its release in 2002. The first generation Transit became available on the North American market only in 2010. For American buyers, the van was available with a 2.0L Duratec DOHC I-4 gasoline engine generating 136 HP and providing 128 lb.ft. of torque. For the 2011 model year, the wagon version of the vehicle was offered to drivers in Canada and the USA. It is a passenger version of the van that features seating for five occupants and rear windows designed to be opened for ventilation.
The second generation of the Ford Transit Connect was introduced in Amsterdam in 2012. In North America, this new vehicle became available only in 2014. The engine line-up included a 2.5 L inline-4 engine as well as 1.6 L and 1.5 L EcoBoost turbocharged inline-4 engines. While the first engine was paired to a 6-speed 6F-35 automatic transmission, the two others were teamed with a 6-speed Powershift automatic one. In addition, the company offered optional hardware that allowed for converting the 2.5 engine to use Propane or CNG for those drivers who are looking for alternative-fuel vehicles. For the 2016 model year, the 1.5 L EcoBoost was dropped. The two available engines were mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that together with a standard electric power-assisted steering ensured excellent driving performance in any driving conditions.
In 2017, Ford offers the Transit Connect with 2.5L iVCT engine that comes with iVCT (intake variable cam timing controlled by a computer), which ensures optimized power and improved fuel efficiency. The engine provides 169 HP and offers 171 lb.ft. of torque. The vehicle is offered as a passenger wagon that ensures efficient and comfortable service on any length of trip and a van that is spacious yet maneuverable, which makes it an ideal business tool. All Ford Transit Connect accessories and parts are professionally united to guarantee unrivaled transporting capabilities and excellent driving performance, while pleasing the eye with an attractive appearance.
