Product Details

dBX Series™ Muffler by Flowmaster®. , 4" Thick x 9.75" Wide x 13" Case Length x 19" Overall Length. The 2-chamber design of this muffler, incorporating the patented Flowmaster Delta Flow Technology, has enabled the company to create a performance muffler with an aggressive exterior sound combined with a subdued (but noticeable) interior resonance. This is a muffler that makes a true performance statement without being overly tiring for the driver.

Flowmaster - Delta Flow Technology

Like all Flowmaster mufflers, the 40 Series Delta Flow mufflers improve exhaust scavenging for increased torque and horsepower. The precision positioned Delta deflectors have a dual function, as they are positioned to create a low pressure zone that improves exhaust scavenging, while also reducing the interior resonance. The unique design of the 40 Series two chamber delta flow mufflers makes them perfect for performance cars used daily or on long drives. The exterior sound will turn heads, while the interior sound level provides the driver with the beautiful music of a performance engine at a comfortable sound level. The mufflers are fully MIG welded for maximum durability and you have a choice between aluminized mild steel and stainless steel construction.

Flowmaster mufflers differ in technology and tuning, and thus in tone and character, to give your performance engine a sound to your personal liking.

All Flowmaster mufflers are tuned for maximum performance. All Flowmaster mufflers produce a beautiful deep performance tone. Choosing the right Flowmaster muffler is not a technical decision – it is all up to your personal taste. It’s A Sound Decision®.

Flowmaster mufflers employ two unique technologies developed by the company; the patented Delta Flow and the Laminar Flow. They give different characters of sound and can be tuned to achieve the desired exhaust note. Flowmaster Exhaust System Technology is so versatile, and gives such a high degree of control, that it is used both by racers, who want maximum power, and by the U.S. Air Force in Stealth applications where maximum silence and minimum heat emissions are prime considerations. Be it for a domestic or import truck, SUV, off-road warrior, daily driver, muscle car, euro-spec cruiser or sport compact vehicle Flowmaster always has the right muffler for you.

Superior Sound
Just put this muffler on my truck with all new aluminized pipe from Cats. to bumper. When peeling off the rotted exhaust from my 2008 F150, I seen it was Flowmaster also..... The entire back of the muffler rotted out letting the right tailpipe drag on the road. Hope this holds up well. Hmmm. Sounds great though. I would have given a higher rating if there had been a Tshirt in the boxes.

Mufflers
I was a little sketched out but cause I never bought anything from this company but, they arrived in about 2 days and the boxes they came in were a bit ripped up and it looked like they been thrown around but the mufflers themselves were in great shape, I’m actually getting them on next week and I can’t be happier. IF your thinking about buying this item or just wanting to buy something off this site 100% do it it’s legit, it might hurt the bank a little but it’s worth it in my books. I definitely will be back buying items from here. DREAM BIULD HERE I COME LOL.

Outlaw
First of all, I love this muffler. The sound is amazing. Install was pretty easy after busting my knuckles getting the stock muffler off. The only thing that I found that I would change is the clamps. The clamps wouldn’t get tight enough to seal the tailpipes and they can still be moved around. Other than that, it’s great.

Outlaw
First of I love the sound of this muffler! Install was a breeze after taking off the stock muffler. The only thing that I found I didn’t like were the clamps. They didn’t get tight enough and could still move the tailpipes around. Other than that it’s perfect!

I absolutely love the sound of it! Install was pretty quick. The only thing I don’t like is the clamps. The clamps didn’t fit right and didn’t clamp tight enough. Other than that, it’s amazing!

It's Perfect, I Love It
After pulling the trigger on the Outlaw, it arrived quickly so I was really pleased with the CARiD service in that regard. With the help of my son we got it installed in a few hours, and like many other reviewers have said, the hardest part was getting the old muffler off, and mine wasn't even that rusty. Ended up just cutting it off with a Sawzall. After the initial fire-up, I was worried that it was going to be way too loud. The truck was backed up to the garage so it formed a kind of amphitheater that made the rumble reverberate conspicuously throughout the neighborhood. My son was totally stoked, but in my head, I was like in my head "Oh S*** I can't live with this, and not only that but I cut the old muffler off." But then the idle settled down after a minute, and ultimately it wasn't much louder at all than stock at that RPM. We took it for a spin and, in the final analysis on the initial impression, the muffler was a perfect balance between quietly rumbling when you want it to (idle, and just cruising around), and aggressively lively sounding when getting on it. In other words, it was only loud when I wanted it to be. I've now had the muffler for a few months and I have not a single regret. It always gives me grins when I fire it up on cold start. It's like the truck is saying, "Ok let's do this," even if you're just going to the store. I can also appreciate the many "moods" of the engine now that it can communicate better, depending hills, freeway acceleration, backing off the throttle and basking in the mild burble, or mashing the pedal to pass someone or just be a hooligan in private. It's never too loud.

Sounds Awesome but Install Was Not Fun
First - check out my video of a cold start and quick ride around town. This is prior to the K&N CAI being added. I recommend raising the truck a little if you are working on a stock height. I gets a little snug swinging a mallet under there. So I started off by soaking all the nuts in PB blaster as well as letting everything cool off. After a few hours I went to work on the old clamp rings. The factory nuts are tricky to get to. I wanted to use my 3/4 ratchet but the throw and handle length made it hard so I went with the 3/8th socket set. I was able to break them all loose and removed the rear tips/pipes from the rubber hangers. I laid a box under the chrome tips so they didn't hit the concrete when I knocked them loose. Once everything was loose I began my adventure of hammering the pipes apart at the muffler. Each of these are 2-3 inches deep into each other so start with the exit tubes first. I hammered them out and broke my rubber mallet so I switched to a dead blow which worked much better. Hammering out the old muffler from the inlet tube was actually pretty easy. Putting the new Flowmaster was pretty easy. Just reverse what you just did but make sure you hang the clamps on the tubes first. The Outlaw sounds amazing. Combined with my K&N CAI it really has a mean growl that I love but when cruising in the interstate there is no obnoxious droning noise. It cruises nice and quiet which was an unexpected surprise. I didn't care any about extra HP, I was hoping for some added MPG. Unfortunately since I love the sounds so much I haven't gotten any MPG gains. I am running a fully stock exhaust setup with the exception of the muffler. Stock cats, pipes and resonators. Overall I would say it was a great buy. Only downside is that I now have a 'ticking' exhaust leak. I can't tell if it's coming from the clamps that hold the Flowmaster on or where the inlet pipe comes from the exhaust manifold. Maybe some shorty headers in my future.
