Product Details

Resonator Assembly by DynoMax®. This part provides an additional sound control and is a great add-on to the exhaust system. Working in tandem with the muffler, it will ensure a more efficient sound reduction and achieve a particular exhaust tone.

A resonator is an additional sound deadening device that works in conjunction with a muffler and helps to further reduce the noise produced by the engine. Primarily, its construction resembles a simplified muffler and it basically operates like the resonator chamber in the muffler. It reflects sound waves back, canceling out sound in the exhaust within a given frequency range. This part is located a certain distance from the muffler to provide the resonant effect. The DynoMax Resonator will lower the dB of the exhaust system without restricting the flow. The resonator also allows you to tune the sound of the exhaust system to achieve a particular exhaust tone that will better match the nature of your car. With DynoMax, it's easy to get the sound that's right for your vehicle as it is one of the leading performance exhaust brands offering an extensive collection of premium exhaust products that provide you with the sound and power you demand.

No Show Piece, but a Good Value
Looking to replace the exhaust system on my 1999 Dodge Dakota, RWD 3.9L Magnum V6, and wanted something a little more free flowing than stock. Did some research, and found this offering from Dynomax. Wanted stainless steel, and welded seams were a plus. Price was fair as well. Got the item fairly quickly. Inspected the muffler out of the box, no damage, but this ain't show piece. Welds are extremely sloppy, so either the robot on the line was off that day, or these are apprentice welds. End cuts for the inlet and outlets were pretty rough as well. I don't much care about appearance, so long as the thing is sealed. I gave it 2 stars for appearance in case you're looking for something nice. For a universal fitment muffler, this was a no fuss install for my truck. Good bang for your buck, if appearance isn't important. Sounds good at idle, a little raspy on acceleration, and an obvious drone at 2500-3000 RPM on acceleration. I can deal with it. Overall, I'm satisfied.

Mellow Sound for 2014 Toyota Tacoma V6.
The '14 V6 Tacoma comes with an offset to offset muffler. The Dynomax Turbo is not available in that design. I bought the offset to center model. Since it is reversible, I figured the muffler shop would be able to install it. They did have to add one section of pipe to make everything fit and install new hangers. The muffler cost about $70 and the install was $125. I was hoping he'd charge only $100. Nevertheless, that was still a lot lower than the $250 estimate had I bought the Magnaflow muffler from the muffler installer. The Dynomax Turbo is just a little louder than factory; the exhaust sound at road-speed is pleasant. It is not the "ratty" sound you hear from single or dual exhaust V6's. I will add that my old '94 V6 4.0 liter Ford Ranger sounds a heck of a lot better with just the factory exhaust. I suppose that has something to do with OHV engines compared to OHC. OHV delivers more "lope" sound. However, after 22 years in the Ranger, it was time for something new. Besides, the 156 hp of the ranger does not compare to the 236 hp of the Tacoma. Same size engine, but 22 years of tech change equals more right-foot excitement.

Dyno Muffler
Great muffler. I had to do some welding and modification to the tail pipe in order to fit (expanding the ends and cutting of the tail pipe), but once attached it seems to work great.

Polished Muffler
Instead of my stock one I installed this muffler and now it sounds much more aggressive. It is expensive a little, but quality is well worth it.
