The Citroen Berlingo first appeared as a concept car at the Mondial de l'Automobile in 1996, and the very same year it went into production. The French panel van looked very similar to its PSA Group classmate, the Partner, no wonder considering that both vehicles were built on the same chassis. In November 2002, Citroen introduced a revised version, the Berlingo I Phase 2, with a refined interior and redesigned front end part. There was also passenger version called the Multispace that is still sold in Europe. The van was powered by a great variety of Petrol, Diesel, Electric, and CNG (compressed natural gas) engines with the capacity that varied from 1.4L to 2.0L.
The first generation of the Berlingo was replaced with two different models in 2008. One of them, called the Nemo, was based on the Fiat Punto and was created in cooperation with Fiat and Tofas. The car was supposed to be built in Turkey and was to be promoted as the Peugeot Bipper and Fiat Fiorino. Citroen and Peugeot versions were pretty identical, but the Fiat Fiorino featured its own engine with completely revised parts, and was significantly smaller compared to the current Berlingo.
There is also an electric version, known as the Citroen Berlingo Electrque, which is equipped with the Venturi Electric battery-powered engine. The car is able to run up to 60 miles, its power is 37.5 hp/38 PS and the torque is 132 ft·lb. The Berlingo has lots of devoted users, and one of the most prominent ones is the Hellenic Air Force that uses the Berlingo as the means of transportation for its staff.
Multi-dimensional and tastefully appealing, the Citroen Berlingo captivates the driver by hosting delightful interior accessories and parts that create a heightened sense of drivability. A wave of possibilities await with this model, from the interior spacing and cargo capacity to the foldable passenger seating that can serve as a table-top. It is easy to tell that the Berlingo was designed for comfort as well as convenience, and those attributes are clearly on display throughout. Featuring the latest navigation (Smartnav) and pleasing performance, the Berlingo makes headlines where ever it goes.
