There are 2 kinds of electronic fuel injection systems, those that use speed density to calculate airflow and those that use a mass air meter to directly measure airflow. The speed density system uses sensors to measure various engine parameters, and then the engine control computer compares these values to preprogrammed information to calculate the airflow into the engine. These sensors include the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, which measures intake manifold pressure, the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor that measures engine rpm, and the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor, which measures the ambient temperature at the engine air intake.
The Mass Air Meter is usually installed between the intake tubes on a Cold Air Intake system, and this adapter takes the place of the meter so the system can be used on a speed density fuel injected engine. The adapter is made of chrome plated steel for great looks and long term durability, and comes with a bracket and installation hardware. The BBK Chrome Cold Air Intake Adapter is backed by a 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship, as long as the product was installed according to BBK guidelines.
