The GT-R is a sports car that was separated from Nissan’s Skyline lineup. It was introduced to the world in 2007 and since then has been the most athletic and expensive Nissan vehicle. It features a two-door coupe body with a 2+2 seating layout. The GT-R doesn’t seem to be made for sedate driving – its explosive performance craves to be released on the track. Sure enough, this vehicle is not everyone’s choice. It appeals to those who are ready to compromise utility and convenience for the sake of performance. On the other hand, the GT-R is less unforgiving to inexperienced drivers than, for instance, the Dodge Viper. In fact, the GT-R is surprisingly easy to drive, as it heavily depends on a large number of technological enhancements. Plus, the Nissan GT-R has been more and more shifting to the comfort side with every upgrade.
Updated for the 2017 model year, the Nissan GT-R gets a modest exterior redo along with a redesigned dashboard with more intuitive and straightforward controls and a larger infotainment display. The passenger compartment becomes even quieter thanks to enhanced sound insulation that separates passengers from distracting road noise. Besides familiar Premium and Nismo trims, the 2017 Nissan GT-R is available in the all-new Track Edition, which slots between the base configuration and the range-topping Nismo. It benefits from all amenities available in the Premium model and adds the Nismo’s aggressive suspension tune and rigid body structure.
Both Premium and Track Edition models feature a 3.8-liter 565-horsepower turbocharged V6 engine that feeds power to all four corners of the vehicle through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive. Such a setup takes the 2017 Nissan GT-R to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds. This sports coupe also features one of the shortest 60 to zero mph stopping distances in the segment, which is 103 feet. The Nismo upgrades the same engine to a 600-horsepower output.
