A mid-size sedan by Toyota, the Avalon received a number of updates for the 2016 model year along with the new trim named the XLE Plus. The vehicle offers two powertrain choices – a 3.5 L DOHC V6 with Dual VVT-i that generates 268 hp connected to a 6-speed automatic and a 2.5 L I4 mated to a high-torque electric motor and a CVT. The hybrid powertrain produces 200 hp in total. A gasoline power unit combines excellent performance and fuel efficiency – it allows the 2016 Toyota Avalon to reach 60 mph in less than 7 seconds and deliver 24 mpg combined. The Avalon Hybrid is the only hybrid model in its market segment, it provides an excellent mileage of 40 mpg combined.

Gasoline versions of the 2016 Toyota Avalon feature paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel and three modes that allow you to tailor the responsiveness of your vehicle. They are Normal, Eco, and Sport. Eco mode balances driving performance, fuel efficiency, and air conditioning function prioritizing fuel efficiency; Sport mode adjusts transmission shifting, throttle response, and steering feel in order to improve driving experience. The 2016 Avalon offers two different suspensions – for a more comfortable ride and for a more dynamic driving experience. The latter is offered only for the Touring trim level, while the former is designed for all other models.

The new XLE Plus trim level was introduced as a step-up for the gasoline Avalon and as a base variant for the hybrid. It comes with the Entune Audio Plus infotainment system with navigation that is operated through a 7” touchscreen. Gasoline versions of the 2016 Toyota Avalon provide 16 cu. ft. of cargo space in the trunk, while hybrid models offer 14 cu. ft. (due to the battery pack placed behind the rear seats). All versions received a new grille and new turn signals. The Touring trim comes with LED headlights, LED DRL, new grille, and 18” dark gray alloy wheels. The Avalon Touring is offered with a gasoline powertrain only.
