    The 2011 Jeep Compass Has Been Priced

    The new Jeep Compass that goes on sale next month is priced at $19,295 for the base mode, according to Chrysler.

    The significant price-up of $3,830 is totally compensated by the extended set of standard equipment, which now includes air conditioning, heated power side mirrors, roof rails, power windows and locks, cruise control, removable/rechargeable LED flashlight and fog lamps.

    The 2011 Compass comes in three trims: base, Latitude and Limited. The latter starts at $24,295 and features such special attractions as climate control and leather salon. Base and Latitude trims are available standard with 158-hp, 2.0L four-cylinder engine at 23/29 mpg city/highway with a five-speed manual transmission. The Compass Limited is equipped with a 172-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder that gets 23/29 mpg. All trims come with antilock brakes, electronic stability control and tire pressure warning.

    Chrysler has officially unveiled the 2011 Jeep Compass based on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

    The new Compass can run 29 miles per gallon and is equipped with upgraded steering and suspension systems. Among other changes the engineers applied for the 2011 Jeep Compass are the new hood, modified fascias, a restyled grille and lighting units, a body-color spoiler and others. Under the hood the 2011 Compass is available with either a 158-hp 2.0L or 172-hp 2.4L; both engine formats make the Compass very fuel-efficient for an SUV.

    "With the new 2011 Jeep Compass, we've applied the premium design cues of our award-winning new Grand Cherokee," said Mike Manley, President and CEO for Jeep brand. "Combined with new interior appointments, and refinements to the suspension and steering systems, Jeep Compass provides consumers with the ultimate combination of styling, capability, fuel economy, efficiency, safety and value in the important compact-SUV segment."

    The price for the 2011 Jeep Compass is not yet announced, but the car will be available at dealerships later this month.
