The Audi A7 was introduced as a sportback concept at the Detroit Auto Show in 2009. This five-door coupe vehicle debuted at the Motor Show in Paris, 2010. The Audi A7 is based on the MLB platform as well as on the Audi A6. Audi returns to the coupe market with the new Audi A7 and targets a new segment of automotive market with A7 Sportback innovative technologies. The coupe body consists of aluminum parts and high-technology steels, which makes it very safe and lightweight. A7 Sportback is offered with 4 powerful V6 engines: two 3.0L TDI diesel with either 201hp or 241hp, and two gasoline engines 2.8L with 201hp and 3.L engine with 295hp. The power output of these engines ranges from 204 hp up to 300 hp. Their high efficiency sets the new standards in the automobile class. All theAudi A7 engines are provided with Audi's new system of thermal management, start and stop system and recuperation system.

The standard automatic transmissions greatly influence the efficiency of the Audi A7. The Sportback A7 is offered with two different transmissions: Multitronic CVT and 7-speed dual clutch Stronic. While the multitronic CVT refers the power to the front wheels, the 7-speed Stronic sends the power to Quattro all-wheel drive. The crown-gear center differential and torque vectoring presents the next evolutionary stage of the Quattro. The drive system is particularly flexible and dynamic. 2012 Audi A7 Debuted in the United States

Audi targets to carve out another niche in the luxury automobile segment. Following this aim, Audi introduced its four-door coupe 2012 Audi A7 at the 2011 New York Auto Show. All new Audi A7 combines the sedan functionality with sporty design of a coupe. The first model of this ilk was Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. New Audi A7 is based on the next-generation Audi A6 sedan. Two models share transmission,engine and other components, but the Audi A6 differs by the sporty exterior styling, a four-seat layout, and a large hatchback versus a trunk. 2012 Audi A7 features distinctive and progressive look that represents a sporty elegance in the executive class. “The all-new Audi A7 takes cues from high art, with dramatic styling and bold features. A symbol of Audi’s craftsmanship, the sedan will join the ranks of icons in design and technology.” stated Scott Keogh, Chief Marketing Officer, Audi of America.

2012 Audi A7 sets a high standard for design, performance and handling. The Europeans get both petrol and diesel engines, however, in the United States market the 2012 Audi A7 is available with just one engine: Audi's gasoline-fueled, direct-injected 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine, producing 310 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The European specification models have the Audi's S tronic 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, while the American specification models come with 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission exclusively. The Audi's quattro all-wheel drive comes standard on all Audi A7 3.0 TFSI models. Unlike European models, the American version is offered without fuel-scrimping start-stop feature. "With start-stop, there are several implications on the comfort side for the customer, and it's something we thought U.S. customers would not be too thrilled about," said Sebastian Mackensen, Audi's head of sales and marketing for the Americas. "On a car with a stylish design and a lifestyle orientation, we didn't think it was the right time to launch this."
