1A Raingutter Towers Foot Pack (8000101) by Yakima®. Quantity: Set of 4. These towers were designed to support Yakima round crossbars on vehicles with roof mounted rain gutters. Constructed from rugged glass reinforced nylon with a heavy-duty die-cast interior, these towers clamp securely to the rain gutters, creating a rigid, stable base for transporting gear on your roof. Available HighRise spacers can provide 3-1/2" of additional clearance, and adapters are also available to mount the towers to camper shells or other applications without rain gutters.
Rain gutters used to be found on the roofs of most cars and trucks, but in the quest for better aerodynamics they’ve been eliminated from vehicle rooflines in favor of smoother, so called "naked" roofs that create less drag for greater fuel efficiency. However, there’re still plenty of older cars and trucks around with rain gutters, and if you want to mount a roof rack to one of those vehicles, Yakima makes the 1A Raingutter Towers. These rugged glass reinforced nylon with die-cast interior towers are intended for use with Yakima round crossbars (not included) and are designed to tenaciously clamp to rain gutters for a rigid, stable base of support for your cargo and accessories. Clip spacers are included in case the inside of the towers contact the roof.
Their versatile design also makes these towers ideal for camper shells, truck bed caps, and any other application without rain gutters with the use of adapters. These adapters, in effect, create artificial rain gutters for the towers to clamp on, and these adapters are available from Yakima. And if you need more roof clearance, or if for whatever reason 1A Raingutter Towers aren’t tall enough for your needs, 3-1/2" tall HighRise spacers are available to raise the tower height to 10-3/4".
The 1A Raingutter Towers are sold in sets of 4 towers, to mount two crossbars, and come with detailed, illustrated installation instructions and crossbar end caps. They can be locked to prevent theft with the purchase of optional SKS (Same Key System) lock cores and keys, and they’re backed by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
