Product Details
Landing Pad by Yakima®. Landing pads enable Yakima Control Tower Foot Packs to be installed on vehicles with roof mounted factory adjustable tracks, or factory fixed mounting points. They are also available to allow these towers to be permanently attached (holes must be drilled) to the roof and to bolt onto truck caps, tent trailers, RVs, or boats. These sturdy glass reinforced nylon pads are vehicle specific and provide the interface between the rack foot and your vehicle, for a custom fit that ensures a perfect, secure rack attachment. Landing pads come with everything required for installation, including snap-on covers for when the rack is not in use and detailed instructions.
Landing pads are designed specifically for each application, to ensure that Yakima Control Tower crossbar supports fit perfectly and provide stable, secure support for the roof rack system. Manufactured from high strength glass reinforced nylon, Landing Pads are available for vehicles with factory adjustable tracks, factory fixed mounting points, and for permanent installation.
Some vehicles come from the factory with tracks mounted on the roof. These tracks run parallel to the sides of the vehicle and are designed to mount a roof rack. A track mounted roof rack gives you the versatility to position the crossbars as required to provide the best support for the gear you’re carrying. The rack feet can be loosened and moved in the tracks to position the cross bars as desired. Landing Pads for these applications come with hardware that will allow the Control Towers to slide in the tracks and then be secured when the optimal load bearing location is reached. Other vehicles have rack mounting points built into the roof and these can be accessed by removing the covers from the mounting locations. These fixed mounting points usually already have threaded holes and hardware is supplied with the pads to mount the Control Towers.
Landing Pads are also available to create a permanent mounting for a roof rack system, and installation of these pads and Control Towers requires drilling. There are pads that include hardware for a “blind” installation, where access to the underside of the roof is not possible, and pads that include bolts and nuts that can be fastened from underneath the mounting surface. These applications include truck caps, tent trailers, RVs, or boats.
Landing Pads come with snap-on covers that can be installed over the pads for a clean look when the roof rack is not installed. All necessary hardware and detailed, illustrated installation instructions are included. Landing Pads are backed by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
