Product Details

Universal Glass Hatch Hooks by Yakima®. These adapters are used in place of the upper hooks when installing a Yakima trunk mount bike rack to a vehicle with a glass or plastic hatch. They are installed so the round pads are trapped inside the vehicle when the hatch is closed, with the straps passing through the opening over the top of the hatch, where they can be attached to the bike rack.

Installation

Some vehicles are equipped with glass or plastic hatch panels. The metal hooks on Yakima trunk mount bike rack straps should not be attached to these panels or a spoiler, as this could damage the vehicle. Instead, during installation, remove the buckles from the rack's upper straps. Open the hatch and hang the padded anchor ends of the straps inside the hatch opening and shut the hatch so the anchors are trapped inside and the anchor straps extend outside over the top of the hatch. Attach the buckles and install the bike rack. When the straps are tensioned, the anchors will prevent them from pulling free.

Glass Hatch Hooks are covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Warranty

This limited warranty covers all Yakima-brand products and rack components manufactured by Yakima Products, Inc. (Yakima), and is effective for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product. This warranty terminates when the original retail purchaser sells or otherwise transfers the product to any other person.

Subject to Yakima’s inspection of the product, Yakima will remedy defects in materials and/or workmanship by repairing or replacing, at Yakima’s option, the defective product without charge for parts or labor, subject to the limitations and exclusions described in this warranty. Yakima may elect, at its option, not to repair or replace a defective product, in which case Yakima will issue to the original retail purchaser, at Yakima’s option, either a refund equal to the purchase price paid for the product, or a credit to be used toward the purchase of new Yakima products or rack components.

This warranty does not cover problems caused by normal wear and tear (including, but not limited to, scratches, dents, tears, or aesthetic oxidation of surfaces, or natural breakdown of colors and materials over extended time and use), commercial use, accidents, unlawful vehicle operation, or modifications or repairs not performed or authorized by Yakima. In addition, this warranty does not cover problems resulting from conditions beyond Yakima’s control including, but not limited to, theft, misuse, overloading, or failure to assemble, mount or use the product in accordance with Yakima’s written instructions or guidelines included with the product or made available to the original retail purchaser.

Awesome Looks, Odd Build Quality

The shield itself looks great, but it is just a glorified piece of plastic that’s held on basically with zip ties. That said the volume of the wind in the cab of the truck is dramatically decreased, I’m pleased with the product in every way, just wish there was a way to lock it onto the bars. I don’t live in the nicest areas, and the name Yakima does draw a little attention.

Great Bracket for Axe/Shovel

Easy to install, no drilling or cutting. Just put together and use. The design fits utilities very snug, no rattling nor shaking. The black color design blends in very well with the rack. I absolutely love this bracket, I will be buying another one soon to install in the other side, and maybe even install one on the inside of the rack too. I strongly recommend this to anyone who buys the Yakima Rack.

On Lockdown

They were easy to install and I feel safe leaving my bike attached to my car without fear of theft during my post-ride meal with the team.
