Every racer knows the importance of wheels and tires to vehicle performance, whether they race on the circle track, on frozen rally routes, or push their truck to the limit on sand washes and rocks. Competitions require ad hoc rims, tailored to the type of track and the category of the vehicle. The aftermarket industry offers a large array of racing wheels, each carrying specific characteristics to boost performance and ensure safety. Most of them are made out of premium aluminum alloys which can save much weight, however, steel wheels are quite ubiquitous in motorsports as well. Last but not least, from the point of view of aesthetics, racing rim designs can give plenty of sporty appeal to any vehicle.
The strength-to-weight ratio of aluminum alloy wheels depends on building techniques, which include casting, flow-forming, and forging. Almost all of the more affordable models are cast; flow-formed rims have a more compressed molecular structure and thus are lighter and more rigid, while forging represents the in ultimate in wheel technology. Monoblock, 2- and 3-piece options are available. Although forged monoblock models are the most performing, 3-piece rims are more popular as they offer a good balance between performance and cost while allowing for customization. At our online store, we have a large selection of top-gamma 20-inch racing wheels, designed by such companies as BBS, DAI Alloys, and American Racing, among others. Finishes include chrome, satin, matte black, and gunmetal, while countless face/inserts variations meet every requirement and taste.
