Vehicle & Parts Protection
For the 2018 model year, Volkswagen launched a 4-door fastback, the Arteon, that replaced the CC in the lineup and became the company’s flagship. The model name consists of two parts – “art” describes the emotionality and harmonious lines of the car, while “eon” identifies it as a premium vehicle (just like the Phideon marketed in China). The Arteon is constructed on a lightweight modular MQB platform that enables the car to deliver impressive dynamics. The model has similar dimensions with the Passat, being a bit wider, lower, and shorter. The Volkswagen Arteon comes with two 2.0 L engine options, both turbocharged, with the power output of 188 hp and 276 hp. The only transmission option is an 8-speed automatic. The Volkswagen Arteon is front-wheel drive in the base trim, though models powered by a 276-hp engine come with all-wheel drive.
The Arteon features a six-blade grille that, combined with three-dimensional LED headlights, dominates the front end of the car and emphasizes its width. Frameless door windows reflect stylistic elements typical for a sports car, while a wide-opening tailgate provides optimal access to the rear. The Volkswagen Arteon offers almost 20 cu. ft. of cargo space with the rear seats in place and up to 55 cu. ft. when the rear seats are folded down. To complete the look, the model comes with chrome strips flowing along side windows and aluminum alloy wheels. The Volkswagen Arteon features updated Emergency Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control systems. The latter controls the speed of the vehicle taking into account speed limits and road information. The model also offers the available predictive cornering lights – using camera and navigation info, the system illuminates the bend before you steer into it.
Inside, the Volkswagen Arteon features a corporate digital cockpit (optional) and head-up display. The model also offers the Discover Pro infotainment system that can be operated through a 9.2” glass display with gesture control. Apart from the base model, the Arteon offers the R-Line version. It comes with special bumpers, chrome-plated exhaust tips, and front air intakes featuring a high-gloss black finish. Inside, the R-Line comes with a leather steering wheel, heated seats, aluminum pedal covers, and black headliner.
