Toyota launched its compact pickup truck, the Tacoma, in 1995 as a replacement for the Pick Up. Originally it utilized a 2.4 L four-cylinder engine rated at 142 hp as the base one, and two more powerful units were offered optionally. A 4-speed automatic along with a 5-speed manual transmission was offered. In 2004, the Toyota Tacoma of the second generation saw the world. It moved to the mid-size class, becoming more powerful and larger. Two motors were offered – a 2.7 L 2TR-FE I4 producing 159 hp and a 4.0 L 1GR-FE V6 good for 236 hp. In January 2015 in Detroit the third-generation Tacoma was introduced. The model received a new exterior, featuring a more aggressive look, new projector beam headlamps, and larger grille. Its production still continues.
