Motorists in the U.S. may not be well familiar with the Suzuki Jimny, but in other parts of the world, it is a revered off-road nameplate. Decades after its initial launch, the Jimny sticks to the proven original formula: a body-on-frame architecture, front and rear solid axles, and 4WD with a two-speed low-range transfer case. This rugged tiny SUV can go just about anywhere and it looks the part, retaining a boxy exterior design with round headlights. Off-road SUVs are highly customizable, and the aftermarket readily responds to the demand for upgrades with an endless variety of Suzuki Jimny accessories and parts. In our store, you'll find everything needed to equip your small ute for trail duty, protect it from damage during your adventures, and improve its styling to your taste.
With a history that goes back to 1970, the Jimny is an old and storied nameplate. It all began in the late 1960s when Suzuki acquired the Hope Motor Company and used its HopeStar ON360 vehicle as a basis for building the Jimny LJ10 (Light Jeep 10) with a two-stroke air-cooled two-cylinder. A range of LJ-badged vehicles followed, replaced by the SJ30 in 1981. The U.S. market got that model under the Suzuki Samurai name in 1985. The Samurai was a huge success among American off-roading enthusiasts. A compact, lightweight, and nimble ute fitted with beefy off-road parts, it outsold the Wrangler soon after its launch. The Suzuki Sidekick came as its sibling in 1989 and eventually superseded the Samurai in 1995. It was, however, withdrawn from the North American market shortly after that due to safety-related concerns but has soldiered on overseas.
The Suzuki Jimny entered its fourth generation in 2018. Aside from a ladder flame, live axles, and low-range four-wheel drive present across all generations, the small SUV still uses recirculating ball steering well-suited to going off the beaten track. The available powertrains vary depending on the market, with engine options including naturally-aspirated gasoline-powered units that displace 1.2 or 1.5 liters and a 1.0-liter turbo I3. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions are mated to these engines, and wheel choices include 15- and 16-inchers. The approach, breakover, and departure angles of the Jimny are great for taking on challenging terrain, and its short 88.5-inch wheelbase and diminutive dimensions contribute to its nimbleness. Built with off-road prowess in mind, the Jimny is just an okay on-road performer. Its interior is Spartan and old-school but not devoid of conveniences, offering such things as cruise control, touchscreen infotainment, and some driver assist systems. Looking for quality and reasonably-priced Suzuki Jimny parts or accessories to improve its comfort, styling, or capability? We can supply you with the finest aftermarket offerings at affordable prices.
