The Suzuki Ignis entered the market in 2000 as a replacement for the long-running Cultus. This city-oriented subcompact was available only as a 3-door or 5-door hatchback. It came with economical DOHC four-cylinder engines – a 1.3 L 87-hp I4 and 1.5 L 109-hp I4, paired to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Both FWD and AWD layouts were offered. The vehicle was warmly received by customers and in 2001 it formed the basis for the Chevrolet Cruze as a result of joint venture between Suzuki and General Motors. In Australasia, it was marketed as the Holden Cruze. In 2003, the Suzuki Ignis was facelifted, having received a revised grille, relocated turn signal lenses and new wheel trim, though in 2006 the production run of the first-generation Ignis ended.

For the 2017 model year, Suzuki launched the second generation of the Ignis. The model was completely redesigned, this time employing a new modular platform that embodies Suzuki’s TECT technology intended to improve the protection of passengers. Apart from the new platform, the Ignis received new engines, revised interior, and a variety of other new features. It also boasts a distinct crossover-like look, confident stance, and optional 4WD. The grille features a single frame design and chrome accents, creating an unconventional look. Thanks to the smart packaging of the powerplant, the Suzuki Ignis features a roomy interior. The trunk is decently sized for this class of vehicles, offering 9.3 cu. ft. of luggage space. The Ignis provides high eye point, allowing you to see the road clearly and maneuver confidently.

The Suzuki Ignis comes with a choice of two economical engines. The base offering is a 1.2 L gasoline I4 with VVT that delivers from 82 hp to 89 hp. It was specially tuned to provide better low-end torque for improved drivability in different conditions. A 1.3 L diesel I4 good for 75 hp is available as an option in some markets. In Europe and UK, the Ignis can be ordered with a mild hybrid system that consists of the same 1.2 L I4 and a battery to store energy that contributes to better emissions and higher fuel efficiency. The system generates 89 hp. If you want to boost your car's power output, add some styling bits, or everything in between, have a look at our comprehensive Suzuki Ignis accessories and parts catalog.
