Introduced in 1995, the Suzuki Esteem represented Suzuki’s entrance in the subcompact car segment. The Esteem shared the platform with the Suzuki Swift, even though it was slightly resized to receive a roomier interior. Performance, handling, and the overall quality were well tailored for the market segment the model was designed for. Initially, it was available as a 3-door hatchback or as a 4-door sedan, while a 5-door station wagon joined the lineup in 1996. Two years later, the series underwent a minor restyling, introducing mainly a newly designed nose. In 2002, the Suzuki Aerio replaced the Esteem in the European and US markets, remaining however available in some Asian markets until 2007.
