The 2019 Ascent is a seven-seat crossover that was designed to fill the gap left by the ill-fated Tribeca which was dropped in 2014. Based on the Ascent concept, the 2019 model got a less shapely liftgate and D-pillar and horizontal tail lights. In addition to the new Global Platform, which is stronger for better handling and improved crash protection, the 2019 Ascent got an all-new turbo-four 2.4L direct-injection engine that is really good on a CVT. It also comes standard with Subaru’s symmetrical AWD system. Same as other vehicles in the 2019 Subaru lineup, the Ascent offers a 50th anniversary edition with special badging.

The Ascent boasts a larger storage area even with the third row of seats in place.
