The SEAT Cordoba is a rebuilt supermini SEAT Ibiza in different body styles, it is presented in the versions of saloon, estate and coupe (while Ibiza remained a sporty supermini hatchback). It was built from 1993 to 2009. The car went on sale with five models and three trim specifications: Stella, Sport and Signo. The official SEAT's rally car from 1998 to 2000 was based on the Cordoba (the SEAT Cordoba WRC), and equipped with a 2.0l turbocharged engine. This was a second model to appear in the new SEAT lineup, featuring the new sporty SEAT family look which makes it more aggressive compared to previous models.
For the first time SEAT Cordoba was presented in 1993 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and in the summer of the same year the production of the model has been started. The Cordoba lineup was extended in 1996 with an estate model Cordoba Vario and Cordoba SX coupe. They were equipped with similar petrol engines 1.4l, 1.6l, 1.8l and 2.0l that could be found in VW Polo and SEAT Ibiza. SX was offered with 4 engine options: a 1.6l, 1.9lTD, 2.0l 8V and 2.0l 16v.
The second generation SEAT shares a lot of parts with the fourth make of VW Polo, as well as with Skoda Fabia from which it received multiple engine options and the chassis. The new SEAT Cordoba was featuring multiple engine configurations, starting at 1.2l 12V and with a maximum displacement of 2.0l. Second generation of Cordoba lacked estate and coupe versions, 4-door sedan was the only available body style. In comparison with the previous design one can note the higher door panels and shorter window glass in external Cordoba parts styling, which makes the car look quite chunky.
Sometimes, it takes more than the usual nuts-and-bolts way of thinking to get the driving public's attention. They've seen it all, and need something that they can depend on as well as enjoy looking at. Sounds simple, right? SEAT thought so, which is why the Cordoba has become a valuable presence on the European landscape. This shapely and refined treasure comes in a few different body-styles, but always presents the same fashionable and efficient qualities. The Cordoba simply treats its owners right. No wonder why its drivers love adding on to their Cordoba with an infusion of personal touches due to luxurious accessories.
