The Scion FR-S was originally one of the 86 series vehicles designed by Toyota and Subaru in 2012 to be issued worldwide. The Scion was, of course, the North American variant exclusively. What distinguished this one among the other 2.0-liter boxer-engined sports cars in the range was the absence of the characteristic trim levels and a wide selection of options as a recompense. One of the versions, for instance, had HID headlights combined with automatic climate control, another, appearing in January, 2014, came with heated leather seats and heated side mirrors, and the April version featured TRD lowered suspension. The Scion FR-S (deciphered as Front Engine, Rear-Wheel Drive, Sport) was duly appreciated and entered the Car and Driver's Top Ten list in 2013.

It is vital to maintain the suspension system in good condition, since it allows for comfort and safety, while even a minor wear, when overlooked, may multiply the costs of future repairs. The suspension components most subject to wearing are, predictably, the smaller and truly “shakeable” parts like struts and joints. Among Scion FR-S replacement suspension parts, the front struts and rear shocks from Bilstein are the all-approved option, whereas, for instance, air compressors and parts (wiring harness, solenoid blocks) are the area where Firestone excels.
