Porsche is further upping the ante in the sports car segment with its all-new two-seat roadster powered by a capable flat-six. It is called the Porsche 718 Spyder, a high-performance version of the 718 Boxster that still has many unique parts and accessories that set it apart from its sibling. Built with a strong focus on driver engagement, the newcomer is nothing but a pure machine for the ultimate driving pleasure with a convertible top capable of withstanding top speeds. Inside and out, the newbie is the epitome of luxury sports cars. In addition to unique exterior and interior design with many distinctive Porsche 718 Spyder accessories and parts that the roadster received, the biggest news for 2020 is its mill with a displacement of 4.0 liters and power output of 414 horses.
That 39 HP improvement over the previously offered 3.8 L was achieved thanks to a range of new and revised Porsche 718 Spyder parts and accessories including heads, pistons, valves, connecting roads, a crankshaft, and finally, an intake manifold. The engine is mid-mounted, which offers numerous advantages when it comes to handling. In fact, it is not a detuned version of the well-known 911 GT3 unit, but an all-new one derived from the automaker's 9A2 Evo engine family. However, unlike other motors of its family, it comes without turbochargers and has a displacement above 3.0 liters. The only transmission option is a six-speed manual. With such a capable powertrain, the car can reach 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. The suspension of the car got the lightweight struts and springs along with ultra-stiff ball joints to provide nothing but a performance edge.
Compared to regular 718 models, the ride height of the 2020 Spyder was lowered by 1.8 inches. As far as styling is concerned, the Porsche sports car attracts with a new front bumper featuring large air intakes, which give it a more aggressive look. At the back, the car has an aggressive diffuser and a specifically designed rear spoiler that deploys automatically at speeds above 75 mph for improved downforce. The interior is designed with the focus on driver engagement. Technology-wise, the Spyder offers a number of luxury options which aren’t even available in the GT4. Thus, it can be had with a Burmester audio system, heated steering wheel, etc. Thanks to its lightweight suspension, manually operated tent-like roof, cloth strap door handles, and other weight reductions inside and under the skin, the car weighs 3,206 pounds, which is only 7 pounds heavier compared to its coupe alternative.
